Big changes are hitting the royal scene at Magic Kingdom, and if Princess Elena of Avalor was on your must-meet list, you’re going to want to pay close attention.

According to DVC Shop, Princess Elena has officially left the building—and by building, we mean Princess Fairytale Hall, Magic Kingdom’s marquee character location for the Disney royal elite. Elena has now relocated to a new meet-and-greet spot on Main Street, U.S.A., and we’re breaking down what it means (and why it likely happened).

One Less Princess in the Hall

Princess Fairytale Hall is prime real estate for Disney royalty. Tucked inside Fantasyland, this regal meet-and-greet location usually hosts iconic favorites like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Princess Tiana, Snow White, and occasionally Belle. Lines here? Absolutely wild. We’re talking 60+ minutes on a good day.

But as of this week, one fan-favorite name is off the list—Princess Elena, star of the Disney Channel’s Elena of Avalor, is no longer part of the Fairytale Hall rotation.

On Instagram, DVC Shop Official shared, “🚨MAGIC KINGDOM UPDATE🚨

Elena of Avalor will no longer be meeting in Princess Fairytale Hall. You can now find her greeting guests on Main Street.”

Wait—Who Is Princess Elena Again?

Let’s rewind for a second. Elena is a groundbreaking character—the first Latina princess in the Disney franchise. She made her debut in 2016 in Elena of Avalor, a vibrant TV series that pulled heavily from Latin culture, myth, and music. Elena ruled the magical kingdom of Avalor with a sword, a scepter, and some serious leadership skills.

Her series ran for three seasons before wrapping in 2020, and while her fanbase is strong, it’s more niche compared to princesses with major movie releases and merchandise saturation.

Why the Change?

There’s been no official announcement from Disney yet, but this kind of move screams guest feedback-driven. With long lines and high demand for the A-listers of the princess world, it makes sense Disney would want to maximize crowd satisfaction at one of its busiest character hubs.

And let’s face it—Elena of Avalor was a great show, but it didn’t have a big theatrical moment or the same level of visibility as something like The Princess and the Frog or Tangled. It’s likely Disney noticed more little ones asking for Tiana or Cinderella than Elena.

Where You Can Still Find Her

If you’re a fan, don’t freak out—Elena hasn’t vanished from Magic Kingdom. She’s still greeting guests, just outside of the Hall now. Word is, she’s moved to a more casual location along Main Street, U.S.A., possibly making her more accessible without the long line commitment.

That might actually be a win for some guests who want a spontaneous meet-and-greet without needing a Lightning Lane reservation or a 45-minute wait in Fantasyland.

So, What’s Next?

Will Elena return to Fairytale Hall? Could she be bumped entirely during busier seasons or brought back for cultural celebrations like Hispanic Heritage Month? It’s hard to say, but for now, this appears to be a permanent move—at least through the summer.

Keep your eyes peeled on Main Street, and maybe grab a photo with Elena while she’s still popping in casually. Because in the world of Disney character shifts, nothing stays the same for long.
