Disneyland Park in Anaheim is gearing up for the annual transformation of one of its most beloved attractions: the Haunted Mansion. Guests hoping to experience the classic version of the ride will have until August 8, 2025, as the iconic attraction will close for its seasonal overlay the following day. The refurbishment will prepare the mansion to reopen as Haunted Mansion Holiday on August 22, 2025, with the festive overlay running through January 7, 2026.

What’s Changing?
The highly anticipated seasonal transformation of the Haunted Mansion into its holiday version is a fan favorite. Inspired by Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, the attraction will be infused with vibrant holiday décor and festive touches. Guests can expect to see beloved characters such as Jack Skellington and Zero appear throughout the ride, adding a blend of spooky thrills and whimsical holiday magic. This will be the chance to see the mansion decorated with a unique combination of Halloween and Christmas elements, making for a distinctly merry and eerie experience.

Routine Maintenance and Refurbishment
While the original haunted mansion will temporarily be gone, Disney has also confirmed that the closure will include routine maintenance and refurbishment efforts to maintain the ride’s high standard. Guests who wish to experience the classic ride are encouraged to plan their visits before August 9, as the seasonal overlay will offer a fresh, albeit limited, opportunity to experience the holiday transformation of the attraction.
Though many will miss the original version of the ride during the brief closure, Haunted Mansion Holiday has become an annual tradition that many Disney fans look forward to. The overlay’s elaborate designs, including updated decorations, create a festive and nostalgic experience for guests, and this year promises to be no different. While the change in atmosphere may leave some longing for the original, there’s little doubt that the return of Haunted Mansion Holiday will be met with anticipation.
