Disneyland’s beloved Main Street Theater has officially closed for a brief refurbishment. This classic venue is set to receive exciting renovations that are intended to enhance the attraction for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
The primary reason for this closure is to install a new tribute dedicated to the legendary Sherman Brothers, who have made a lasting impact on Disney music. Their work has been instrumental in crafting many iconic tunes associated with Disney films and parks. While the theater is closed, guests will be unable to enjoy the usual offerings, but they can rest assured that the updates will be worth the wait. The theater is expected to reopen on July 17, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Disneyland Park—a delightful twist that adds value to the closure.
Upon reopening, visitors will be treated to a new short film titled “The Last Verse,” showcasing the Sherman Brothers’ work in a fresh and exciting way. This new addition aims to educate and entertain, making a trip to the theater even more special. The unveiling of this tribute is one element of a larger celebration planned for Disneyland’s anniversary, which includes a variety of events and experiences that will highlight the park’s rich history and ongoing commitment to magic.

In addition to the renovations at the Main Street Theater, Disneyland is making way for changes throughout the park. Among the most notable alterations is the planned closure of the Monsters Inc. ride, “Mike and Sully to the Rescue,” which will shut its doors permanently in 2026. This closure is part of an ambitious expansion project focused on bringing a new Pandora-themed land to the park, drawing inspiration from the world of James Cameron’s “Avatar.”
Concept art for the upcoming attractions hints at a captivating array of experiences for guests, including water-based rides and potentially a motion simulator similar to the popular “Avatar – Flight of Passage” found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While details are still being finalized, the anticipation is building for this innovative addition to Disneyland.
The excitement at Disneyland doesn’t stop there; enhancements are also on the horizon for the Avengers Campus. Since its debut in 2021 at Disney California Adventure, this Marvel-themed area has captivated guests with its immersive experiences. In a bid to continue this momentum, the park is developing two new attractions—a major “E-ticket” ride and a smaller motion simulator experience.
