Disney Guest Arrested, Entire Police Report Reveals All

It was supposed to be one last ride—one final chance to laugh with the Muppets, take in the nostalgia, and say goodbye to an attraction that had been part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 1991. But instead, one show in mid-May ended in shouting, flying phones, and a guest in handcuffs.

As crowds gathered to honor the final weeks of MuppetVision 3D, emotions were running high. Unfortunately, so were tempers.

Thanks to a newly released arrest report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, we now have details on what went wrong—and why one guest’s trip to Disney ended not with a photo in front of the Chinese Theater, but with criminal charges.

What Went Down at MuppetVision 3D?

On May 15, inside the MuppetVision theater, 27-year-old Wilmarie Ruiz Rodriguez of Spring Hill took a phone call from her mother-in-law. As the pre-show played and Cast Members reminded guests to silence devices, a nearby woman politely asked Rodriguez to stop the conversation.

Instead of ending the call, Rodriguez allegedly lashed out. According to the arrest report, she told the guest to “shut the f*** up, you stupid little b****” and also verbally insulted the woman’s mother.

The tension simmered throughout the show, which continued without further issue—until guests exited the theater.

The woman, concerned for her safety, began filming Rodriguez as they walked out. Rodriguez reportedly struck her, knocking the phone out of her hand. Then, she grabbed the phone and threw it into a crowd, launching it an estimated 30 to 50 feet.

Security and law enforcement quickly located Rodriguez. She admitted to pushing the woman and throwing the phone, saying she believed being recorded was harassment. Her husband had urged her to walk away, but according to the report, she chose confrontation instead.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with battery, principal to robbery by sudden snatching, and criminal mischief. She has pleaded not guilty.

Tips for Avoiding Trouble at the Parks

Disney is supposed to be a safe, happy space—but conflicts can happen, especially in hot, crowded environments. If you ever find yourself in a tense guest situation, here’s how to handle it safely:

  • Don’t Engage Emotionally: If someone is being rude or aggressive, avoid escalating. Speak calmly, or walk away.

  • Ask a Cast Member for Help: It’s always better to get official help than to try to resolve it on your own.

  • Use Your Phone Carefully: If you feel threatened, discreetly document the incident but be mindful—filming someone can trigger more conflict.

  • Put Safety First: Your peace of mind is more valuable than proving a point. If needed, leave the area and regroup later.

What’s Next for the Muppet Theater?

MuppetVision 3D held its final performance on June 7, with the theater officially closing on June 8. Disney has confirmed the area will become part of a new Monsters, Inc. land, featuring immersive theming, new attractions, and character meet-and-greets.

Fans have had mixed reactions. While some are excited for the Pixar expansion, many mourn the loss of one of Disney’s last ties to Jim Henson’s original Muppet vision. The closure marks the end of an era, and for longtime guests, it’s a tough goodbye.

Why This Story Hits So Hard for Disney Fans

This wasn’t just a random scuffle. For those who grew up loving Kermit, Fozzie, and the gang, MuppetVision 3D was a cornerstone of classic Disney magic. It wasn’t flashy or high-tech—but it was full of heart, humor, and history.

That this touching farewell was marred by a moment of violence only adds to the bittersweet nature of the closure. Across social media, fans have been sharing memories, selfies in the theater lobby, and tributes to the attraction that once promised “a salute to all nations, but mostly America.”
