3 Disney Holiday Surprises Just Changed the Game for Christmas 2025

Disney isn’t content with repeating holiday traditions; it loves reimagining them. For 2025, the company has announced three major changes that could completely reshape how guests spend Christmas at Walt Disney World.

These announcements might alter your game plan if EPCOT is on your list this year.

The Steady Magic of Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom remains the beating heart of Disney’s Christmas season. Snow falls on Main Street, U.S.A., U.S.A., lights twinkle across Cinderella Castle, and guests sip cocoa as they enjoy Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This hard-ticket event remains the highlight of December, with parades and fireworks tailored for the season.

Nothing drastic is changing here, and that’s good news for families who rely on the party to anchor their trip. But elsewhere in the resort, things are shifting.

Hollywood Studios Finds Its Style

Hollywood Studios has carved out its own holiday niche with Jollywood Nights. This relatively new event leans into glitz and retro flair, bringing old Hollywood to life with dazzling décor and jazzy entertainment. It’s a different kind of holiday celebration built on style, nostalgia, and unique offerings that contrast with Magic Kingdom’s more traditional cheer.

But for all its shimmer, the headline changes for 2025 are happening in EPCOT.

EPCOT’s Cultural Christmas

EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays has long stood out as one of the resort's most unique celebrations. Guests can enjoy kitchens serving festive treats, storytellers sharing traditions from across the globe, and the iconic Candlelight Processional. It’s the kind of event that feels both magical and meaningful.

Disney is making three big moves that will shape how people experience it.

Santa Relocates to CommuniCore Hall

The first bombshell involves Santa Claus himself. Instead of greeting families at The Odyssey, he’ll now be stationed at CommuniCore Hall.

This move centralizes the holiday experience, making it easier for guests to find him and drawing more traffic into EPCOT’s newest area.

JOYFUL! Takes Over CommuniCore Plaza Stage

The joyful sounds of “JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season” also relocate. This vibrant mix of gospel, R&B, and holiday music will now light up the CommuniCore Plaza Stage.

The show has been a highlight of the festival for years, and the new venue signals that CommuniCore is meant to be EPCOT’s holiday hub.

Olaf’s Hunt Costs More

Finally, Olaf’s Holiday Scavenger Hunt will be priced higher. The family-friendly activity, which lets guests search for hidden Olafs around the World Showcase, will now cost $11.99.

It’s still affordable compared to other experiences, but the bump will be noticeable for families who buy multiple maps.

The Bigger Picture

These changes suggest that Disney is funneling more of EPCOT’s holiday focus into the CommuniCore area. Guests will head there for Santa, stay for JOYFUL!, and even pick up scavenger hunt maps. This strategy streamlines the experience but also risks creating heavy crowds in one place.

Meanwhile, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios maintain their traditions. The balance between old favorites and bold changes makes Christmas at Disney so exciting year after year.

Disney has once again proven that even cherished traditions can be reshaped. In 2025, EPCOT will be the park to watch because Christmas will never feel quite the same again.
