Here’s What Disney World Just Shut Down Across All Its Parks

As the Florida heat eases up and the scent of cinnamon and caramel apples drifts down Main Street, the Walt Disney World Resort has made its seasonal transition — and with it comes a host of new updates that will impact how you plan your fall trip.

From the quiet end of summer celebrations to major construction projects and new entertainment offerings, there’s more happening behind the scenes than just Halloween pumpkins and Mickey-shaped candy corn.

Let’s take a look at the latest park changes and updates for families planning a visit to Disney World this fall.

End of “Cool Kid Summer” Means Changes Across All Four Parks

Disney’s “Cool Kid Summer” event — which brought kid-friendly surprises, pop-up characters, and playful energy to the parks — officially wrapped on September 1st. That shift marks a new operational phase for the parks, with several temporary offerings coming to an end and other seasonal transitions beginning in earnest.

Here’s what that means for your upcoming visit.

Magic Kingdom: Parade Planning and Party Nights

If you enjoyed the impromptu dance parties at Rocket Tower Plaza Stage or Storybook Circus over the summer, you’ll find that those performances have now ended.

In their place? A return to the structured entertainment of fall, with the continued rollout of the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away nighttime parade — a newer addition that debuted earlier this year. The colorful nighttime spectacular features beloved characters, glowing floats, and original music, but only runs on select nights.

This parade does not take place on evenings that host Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and likely won’t run during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party later this year. On nights when it does run, you can catch it at 8:00 PM or 10:00 PM. Be sure to consult the entertainment schedule in the My Disney Experience app to avoid disappointment.

EPCOT: From Festival Eats to Holiday Treats

At EPCOT, “Cool Kid Summer” brought the zany “GoofyCore” experience to the new CommuniCore Hall — but that limited-time event has now concluded. For the moment, the indoor space is inactive.

That will change just after Thanksgiving. Beginning November 28th, the space will become home to Santa Claus himself during the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. The new Santa meet-and-greet will be held at CommuniCore Hall rather than its previous location at the Odyssey pavilion. Scheduled times include 11:00 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:30 PM, and 5:00 PM daily.

Also ending with summer was the Phineas and Ferb character interaction near the park entrance — those two mischievous brothers have once again retreated into retirement, for now.

If you’re still looking for something seasonal, the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival continues through November 22nd, with outdoor kitchens like Festival Favorites offering snacks and beverages worth a stop.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Construction and Fantasmic Changes

Big things are brewing at Hollywood Studios — and they’re not all pumpkin spice.

As of September 25th, the Animation Courtyard area officially closed to begin transformation into the Walt Disney Studios Lot, a brand-new area slated to open in 2026. The new mini-land will feature interactive attractions like The Magic of Disney Animation and a whimsical Drawn to Wonderland play zone inspired by classic Alice in Wonderland concept art.

In the meantime, expect construction walls and altered foot traffic patterns throughout that part of the park.

This isn’t the only change impacting guest flow. The nighttime spectacular Fantasmic! is adjusting its schedule for fall. Previously running twice nightly, it now shifts to one performance at 9:30 PM, with an occasional 8:00 PM show on select dates. On nights when Jollywood Nights is scheduled in November, Fantasmic! will perform earlier, at 6:30 PM. Again, check the app or daily Times Guide to confirm the exact time during your visit.

Animal Kingdom: New Adventures, and a Few Goodbyes

Animal Kingdom is also undergoing seasonal changes. With the end of Cool Kid Summer came the conclusion of several special experiences, including:

  • Special adventures at Rafiki’s Planet Watch

  • A limited-time Wilderness Explorers badge

  • The summer celebration sing-along at Discovery Island

Additionally, the Boneyard play area in DinoLand U.S.A. officially closed on September 2nd. That closure signals the beginning of the end for the entire land, which will eventually be replaced by a new themed area. For now, Dinosaurremains open, along with Restaurantosaurus, but both are expected to close in the coming months.

But it’s not all farewells — a new 4D film experience called Zootopia: Better Zoogether debuts at the Tree of Life Theater on November 7th, giving families an all-new show option in the park. Expect immersive visuals, familiar characters, and animal antics in this lighthearted new production.

Water Parks: One In, One Out

Fall also means the usual transition for Disney’s water parks. Blizzard Beach has closed for its seasonal refurbishment, while Typhoon Lagoon remains open for guests looking to cool off. Only one water park is typically open at a time, and that will remain true heading into the cooler months.

Ticket Deals and Discounts Wrap Up

Several summer promotions and special ticket offers have recently expired:

  • 50% Off Kids Tickets — Ended September 30

  • 3-Day, 3-Park Ticket Promo — Ended September 22

  • Disney+ Hotel Discount — Ended July 31

  • Florida Resident Magic Tickets — Ended September 27

However, guests planning last-minute fall vacations can still take advantage of up to 30% off select Disney Resort hotel rooms through October 11th.

Prepare for a Season of Transition

Fall 2025 at Walt Disney World is not just a time for pumpkin treats and Halloween overlays — it’s a time of change. Whether you’re making your way through a construction-laden Hollywood Studios, catching an earlier Fantasmic, or saying goodbye to old favorites in Animal Kingdom, the resort is clearly preparing for a bold 2026.

If you’re heading to the parks this fall, make sure to stay flexible, use the My Disney Experience app to track entertainment times and character meet-and-greets, and plan for new attractions alongside the tried-and-true.

The magic’s still there — it’s just shifting gears for what comes next.
