Jonathan Majors is once again speaking about his time as Kang the Conqueror–and his comments are reigniting speculation about whether his Marvel journey is truly over.
Months after being removed from the Marvel Cinematic Universe amid legal troubles, the former star’s latest remarks suggest that the door to the Multiverse may not be completely closed. Speaking with The Sun U.S. in September 2025, Majors was asked directly whether he could ever step back into the role that once positioned him as Marvel’s next major villain. His response left fans curious.
“I cannot say anything about that,” Majors said when pressed. “Well, it’s a Multiverse, so there’s always that. Always a lot of opportunity for that.”
It was a careful answer, but it didn’t take long for speculation to take hold. In a franchise built around branching timelines and alternate realities, a statement like that feels less like a refusal and more like a tease. After all, Kang was designed to be the central antagonist of the Multiverse Saga, appearing in both Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Even after Marvel pivoted to Doctor Doom as its next overarching villain, Majors’ performance remains one of the most talked-about aspects of the post-Endgame MCU era.
The actor also acknowledged the continued fan support that’s followed him since his exit, saying he was “very glad” to know audiences still want to see his version of Kang again. That affection for the character and his collaborators seems mutual–especially given Majors’ earlier comments from April 2025, when he reflected on his time working with Marvel Studios.
“Yeah, of course I say yes. Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them. Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw,” Majors said.
Those remarks came months before his Sun U.S. interview and painted a picture of an actor still fond of the studio that cut ties with him. His enthusiasm for his co-stars and the collaborative environment on set left many wondering whether reconciliation could ever be on the table–especially with the Multiverse leaving endless possibilities for recasting, Variants, or unexpected cameos.
Marvel, for its part, has already shifted direction. During San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU as Victor Von Doom–a reinvention that marks the beginning of a new chapter for the studio. The Kang storyline was effectively closed, and Feige later explained that Marvel had started “moving away from Kang” even before Majors’ legal challenges surfaced.
But Majors’ cautious optimism in his recent interviews complicates that narrative. While it’s clear that Marvel Studios has charted a course centered on Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four, the actor’s words in both April and September suggest he hasn’t emotionally distanced himself from the world that made him a household name.
Could Kang return in another form, or even with a different face? The Multiverse allows for both, and with Majors leaving just enough unsaid, the idea of a reemergence isn’t entirely out of the question.
For now, the MCU has shifted toward its next big threat, but Majors’ comments serve as a reminder that in a universe full of Variants and timelines, few doors ever stay closed for long.
