Disney’s Animal Kingdom To Become ‘Zootopia’ World by End of 2025

This week, Zootopia (2016) officially takes center stage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. With just days remaining until the grand opening of “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!,” guests will soon find themselves immersed in a new world inspired by the hit animated film.

The new show Zootopia: Better Zoogether! will officially debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Friday, November 7, following the closure of It’s Tough To Be A Bug! earlier this year. The original Tree of Life show, which opened with Animal Kingdom in 1998, permanently closed in March to make way for the Zootopia retheme.

The 4-D production features advanced effects and a stunningly lifelike Clawhauser audio-animatronic, similar to the technology seen in Zootopia: Hot Pursuit at Shanghai Disneyland. The new storyline even reimagines the park’s history, suggesting that the characters from Zootopia were the ones who carved the Tree of Life’s iconic animal sculptures.

Disney cast members and Annual Passholders were among the first to preview the attraction during exclusive test runs last week. The early reactions were mixed. While many fans expressed excitement for the new theming, some longtime Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests criticized the shift away from the park’s original conservation messaging.

A former Walt Disney Imagineer also weighed in, sparking online discussion when he referred to the show as having “woke” themes directed at children. The Imagineer later clarified his comments, saying he missed “the conservation message and the educational message about the insect world.”

To celebrate the arrival of Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, Walt Disney World Resort has released themed merchandise and food items available only at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
