For longtime Disney fans, the thrill of stepping off a plane in Orlando once came with a little extra magic: your luggage appeared at your resort without a single trip to baggage claim. That was before the service quietly vanished years ago, leaving travelers juggling suitcases while trying to soak in the first moments of vacation. Now, Disney seems poised to bring that convenience back—but in a slightly different form.
What exactly is Disney planning, and how could it reshape your next trip?

A Pilot Program Designed for Ease
Starting November 18, 2025, guests flying Southwest Airlines into Orlando International Airport (MCO) and staying at certain Disney Resort hotels will have the option to bypass baggage claim entirely. Checked bags will be collected at the Southwest ticket counter or bag drop area and transported directly to the guest’s resort, arriving within about four hours.
The service will be offered at the following resorts:

Guests must register online between 30 and 5 days before travel via Disney’s Airport Luggage Transfer webpage, with registration opening November 13.

A Modern Take on a Classic Disney Perk
This isn’t the first time Disney has offered such a service. The Remote Airline Check-In program, which allowed luggage to be sent from airports to Disney resorts, was discontinued several years ago. Today’s pilot program revives that concept, effectively completing a missing piece of Disney travel: handling luggage from the airport to your resort.
Currently, a separate service handles luggage from the resort to the airport. With this new pilot, guests could eventually enjoy a full roundtrip luggage solution, reducing airport stress at both ends of the journey.

Why It Could Change Disney Travel
At first glance, this may seem like just another convenience—but it’s also a glimpse into Disney’s evolving approach to guest experience. Since the retirement of Disney’s Magical Express, Disney has been experimenting with partnerships, third-party services, and new logistics to keep travel smoother.
By collaborating with Southwest Airlines and a third-party provider, BagCheck, Disney is testing how seamless the airport-to-resort journey can become. Success could lead to expansions for other airlines or even international arrivals, making travel to Disney World feel effortless from the very start.
This pilot could also encourage guests to view arrival day as part of the vacation experience, not just the prelude to it.

What Guests Should Know Before Booking
Disney has begun notifying eligible guests via email:
“We’re excited to share a new pilot program for guests flying Southwest Airlines into Orlando International Airport (MCO) and staying at select Disney Resorts Collection hotels. This convenient service lets you skip baggage claim and have your checked luggage delivered directly to your Disney Resort hotel.”
The complimentary service will begin on November 18, 2025, for qualifying flights. Guests should note that inbound (airport-to-resort) and outbound (resort-to-airport) luggage services may require separate registration, at least initially.
