Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Location To Close Until Early March 2026, Disney Confirms

Disneyland Park is temporarily shutting down Oga’s Cantina as part of preparations to transform Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The popular lounge serves its final drinks on Monday, January 19, before closing Tuesday, January 20, for a refurbishment lasting until early March 2026.

Timeline Shift Requires Oga’s Cantina Updates

Disney announced plans earlier this month to overhaul Batuu’s timeline at Disneyland Park. Starting April 29, 2026, half of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will transition to the original trilogy era, while the other half will remain set in the sequel trilogy. Walt Disney World Resort will implement identical changes at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though no date has been confirmed.

Beyond Oga’s Cantina modifications, Disney is making multiple adjustments throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to support the timeline shift. Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo will appear in sections of the land. Classic John Williams compositions will be incorporated into the ambient music.

First Order Cargo, currently selling only First Order and Imperial merchandise, will become “a military salvage operation offering artifacts from across the history of the galaxy, including Imperial and Rebel items from the Galactic Civil War”—the conflict depicted in George Lucas’s original film trilogy.

Extended Closure for Star Wars Lounge Transformation

Initially rumored as a four-day closure, Oga’s Cantina’s refurbishment now extends through early March. Disneyland Resort hasn’t specified an exact reopening date.

Beyond routine maintenance, the venue will receive narrative updates reflecting the timeline change. Disney explained:

“In the era of the Galactic Civil War, proprietor Oga Garra only recently opened this watering hole, which is already becoming a popular spot for intergalactic travelers.”

The iconic “Cantina Band” song from Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) will be added to Oga’s music playlist. Disney confirmed aesthetic changes throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but hasn’t detailed whether the lounge will receive visual updates.

Unlike Walt Disney World Resort’s version of Oga’s Cantina, Disneyland Park’s version operates walk-up only, meaning the closure didn’t affect advance reservations.
