Disney’s Beach Club Condemned, “Dirt and Debris” Everywhere

Disney’s Beach Club is one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most luxurious hotels, but it recently faced condemnation for its conditions.

Across Walt Disney World Resort, on-site hotels are divided into Value, Moderate, and Deluxe tiers. Deluxe resorts sit at the top of that hierarchy, with the likes of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort commanding the highest nightly rates and promising premium locations, elevated theming, and more spacious accommodations aimed at repeat visitors and high-spending guests.

Deluxe hotels are typically marketed as part of the destination itself. Proximity to parks, Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, exclusive transportation options, signature dining, and resort-specific amenities often justify prices that can exceed £600 per night during peak seasons, setting expectations far above basic cleanliness and functionality.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort fits squarely into that category. Styled after New England seaside retreats of the late 19th century, the resort shares its Crescent Lake location with Disney’s Yacht Club and offers walking access to EPCOT, a major selling point for guests.

Beach Club is also known for Stormalong Bay, a sprawling sand-bottom pool complex often cited as the best on Disney property. Combined with its pastel colour palette, relaxed atmosphere, and prime location, the hotel has long enjoyed a strong reputation among Disney regulars.

That reputation, however, has come under scrutiny following a detailed complaint shared by a guest on Reddit.

Disney Guest Condemns State of Beach Club Hotel

“Just wondering if this is the norm or really bad luck,” the guest wrote, before outlining a series of issues encountered during their stay. According to the post, both an exterior door and the room’s corridor-facing door had broken locks, immediately raising safety concerns.

The guest went on to describe the room as “filthy,” adding that “the floor had dirt and debris everywhere.” Hair was reportedly found in the shower, and noise from a nearby walkway made it difficult to relax, despite the premium price point associated with the resort.

Distance was another frustration. The guest said they were “so far away from the lobby we may as well be in another hotel,” questioning whether Beach Club’s popularity was driven almost entirely by its pool rather than overall quality.

“I’d heard such good things about beach club before staying here but I really don’t get it,” the post continued. “Is it just the pool that’s swaying people?”

In an update, the guest explained that Disney was notified of the issues. “I let them know and they credited our account with $100 dollars,” they wrote. “No new room but at least they addressed the issues with the locks and vacuumed the floors.”

The thread prompted an outpouring of similar accounts from other guests, many echoing concerns about cleanliness and wear. One commenter said, “The room was dirty, the resort was way too busy, and all of the pretend rich guests were annoying and unbearable.”

Another guest questioned the “deluxe” label entirely, citing thin walls and constant noise. They noted that while the Beach Club’s EPCOT location was convenient, “to me it’s just a very large pool,” adding they would not stay again.

Longtime fans also expressed disappointment. “It isn’t what it used to be,” one wrote, while another added, “It feels very run down everywhere. Bits chipping off the walls in the corridors and stuff too.”

Perhaps most concerning was a report from a guest who stayed briefly in a standard room before moving to the villas. They described dirty floors, visible bugs, and mold on windows, concluding that exhaustion, not satisfaction, ended the night.
