Dolly Parton Expands Dollywood’s Orlando Push as New Opportunities Open

There are theme park announcements and then there are theme park announcements that sell out before most people even hear about them.

Dollywood and Allegiant Air landed firmly in the second category when they unveiled a Dolly Parton themed flight experience departing from Orlando and heading to the Tennessee Smoky Mountains. The first flight filled up fast enough that a second one is now confirmed, which tells you everything you need to know about the appetite for this kind of experience among the theme park traveling public.

Dollywood has never needed Orlando to validate itself. The park has spent four decades building a reputation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee that draws national attention, earns consistent industry awards, and inspires the kind of guest loyalty that most theme parks spend entire marketing budgets chasing. Dolly Parton was recently inducted into the International Theme Park Hall of Fame, a recognition that puts a formal stamp on something longtime Dollywood fans already knew. This park is the real thing.

But reaching directly into the Orlando market with a branded flight experience is something new for Dollywood, and the immediate sellout of the first flight suggests the timing was exactly right.

What Happened With the First Flight and Why There's Now a Second

Dollywood and Allegiant Air announced Flight 925, named as a reference to Parton's signature song 9 to 5, departing from Orlando Sanford International Airport on November 6, 2026, and landing at McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee. The flight sold out quickly. The city of Pigeon Forge's Department of Tourism confirmed the news and announced that a second flight, numbered 2925, is now being planned for the same day to meet the demand the first flight could not accommodate.

The tourism department's statement framed it simply: “With the first flight selling out so quickly, this second fan flight offers another opportunity for travelers to experience the magic of Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains.”

Both flights are designed as complete branded experiences rather than straightforward point-to-point travel. The experience begins at the gate and carries through landing, with gate celebrations, live entertainment, in-flight Dolly Parton trivia, themed food and beverages, exclusive merchandise, and themed surprises built into the journey. Passengers will also have the opportunity to purchase a special lodging package on board, connecting them directly to Dollywood's resort properties for the stay that follows.

The flight itself is the beginning of a larger experience. Passengers who purchase Dollywood tickets for November 7 will receive exclusive ride time opportunities inside the park, special treats, and reserved seating for shows. The date places guests at Dollywood during its Smoky Mountain Christmas event, which has won the Golden Ticket Award for Best Theme Park Christmas Event fifteen times. For guests who have never experienced Dollywood during the holiday season, this is widely considered the premier version of what the park can offer.

Bundled lodging packages are available for guests who want the complete trip handled in one booking. Options include up to 25 percent off select stays at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa or HeartSong Lodge and Resort, a $100 resort credit, two Dollywood park tickets, and transportation to the park from the airport. It is the kind of end-to-end packaging that makes a Tennessee trip feel as organized as any Walt Disney World visit, which has historically been the comparison point for guests weighing Dollywood against other vacation options.

November 7 also lands guests at Dollywood shortly after the park's 2026 season opens on March 13, which includes a new attraction called NightFlight Expedition. The indoor adventure coaster is inspired by the bioluminescent fireflies of the Smoky Mountains and represents one of the more ambitious new rides Dollywood has announced in recent memory. Guests arriving through the themed flight package will be experiencing a version of the park that is fresher and more expansive than what previous visitors saw.

The Orlando Connection and What It Signals

Choosing Orlando Sanford International Airport as the departure point for both flights is not a coincidence. Orlando is the most theme-park-dense tourism market in the world. Guests who live in or near Central Florida, or who are already visiting for a Disney or Universal trip, represent exactly the kind of experienced theme park traveler Dollywood wants to reach. These are guests who understand what exclusive park access means, what resort bundling looks like, and what a premium seasonal event is worth paying for.

Dollywood Parks and Resorts President Eugene Naughton described the Allegiant partnership as “a natural fit,” saying that “this route to Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport is among Allegiant's most popular, so creating a Dollywood-themed flight made perfect sense. Guests aboard flight 925 will enjoy a fast and fun way to reach the Smokies.”

The positioning is deliberate. Dollywood is not trying to compete with Disney on Disney's terms. It is offering Orlando-area travelers an alternative that plays to its own strengths, specifically the Smoky Mountains setting, the Dolly Parton brand, the Smoky Mountain Christmas event, and a hospitality reputation that has been built over four decades without ever trying to replicate what Central Florida already does.

The sellout of Flight 925 suggests that pitch is resonating. The addition of Flight 2925 suggests Dollywood and Allegiant were not entirely prepared for how fast it would resonate.

What This Means for Theme Park Travelers Planning a Trip

For Walt Disney World regulars who have not seriously considered Dollywood, the themed flight package is worth a genuine look. The combination of a fully programmed flight experience, exclusive park access on November 7, a resort stay at DreamMore or HeartSong, and the Smoky Mountain Christmas event creates a trip that is coherent and curated in a way that removes most of the friction from planning a Tennessee vacation from scratch.

The flight package is also arriving at a moment when Dollywood is adding new attractions and continuing to invest in the kind of experiences that draw guests back year after year. NightFlight Expedition adds a new headline ride to a park that already has strong offerings, and the Smoky Mountain Christmas event gives the November timing genuine seasonal weight.

For anyone considering the second flight, the pace at which Flight 925 sold out is the most relevant data point available. Flight 2925 is the overflow option, which means it exists specifically because demand exceeded what the first flight could hold. Treating it as something with unlimited availability and indefinite booking windows is probably not the right assumption.

Check availability through Allegiant and Dollywood's official channels. Dollywood's 2026 season opens March 13, and if a Smoky Mountains trip has been on the list for a while, this fall's themed flight package is one of the more compelling reasons to finally make it happen.

  1. I don’t think this is going to work out in her favor. Her theme Parks lack a lot. When you buy a season pass in Orlando you have that pass for an entire year from the date that you purchase it and the parks don’t shut down over the winter. I went to go purchase Dollywood tickets one year and found out that no matter when you purchase them they expire the following January and you have to pay the same amount no matter if that only gives you one month or 7. It’s still a complete rip-off.
