A construction permit filed Monday morning has confirmed that Walt Disney World Resort is putting the finishing touches on Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Animation Courtyard Gets a New Identity
The transformation of Animation Courtyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios has been underway since last September, when Disney Junior Play and Dance! closed alongside the broader area as part of a sweeping overhaul. Walt Disney World Resort is rebuilding the space as the Walt Disney Studios Lot, a reimagined area inspired by Disney's actual animation headquarters in Burbank, California.
The centerpiece of that project is the Magic of Disney Animation, which is taking shape inside the former Star Wars Launch Bay. The experience will bring drawing classes led by an audio-animatronic Olaf, themed character meet-and-greets, and the return of the oversized blue Sorcerer Mickey hat to Disney's Hollywood Studios for the first time in years. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure is surviving the construction and continuing to perform throughout the transition.
A New Show for the Youngest Guests
On March 24, Walt Disney World Resort filed a Notice of Commencement to “install set elements” at 150 Showbiz Boulevard — the address of the former Disney Junior Play and Dance! theater. The permit names Icarus Exhibits as the contractor, the same company already working on set elements inside the Magic of Disney Animation.
The show moving into that theater is Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, an interactive, preschool-focused stage experience featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and friends performing in front of a massive digital screen. The production is inspired by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which ran on Disney Channel from 2006 to 2016, and its revival series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+, which premiered last year. The show is currently running at Disney California Adventure Park, making the Disney's Hollywood Studios installation its East Coast debut.
The theater already houses a large screen from the Disney Junior Play and Dance! days, meaning Icarus Exhibits is likely focused on installing additional physical set elements to bring the Clubhouse experience to life around it.
Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that the Walt Disney Studios Lot, including Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, will open at Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 26, 2026. An opening date for the Magic of Disney Animation attraction has not yet been announced.
