It’s one of those Disney perks that sounds almost too good to pass up.
Extended Evening Hours.

If you’re staying at a Deluxe Resort, you get extra time in the parks after closing—something that’s supposed to mean lighter crowds, shorter waits, and a much more relaxed experience.
But if you’ve been keeping an eye on recent guest feedback, especially on Reddit, you’ll notice a different story starting to emerge—particularly at EPCOT.
One thread, in particular, has been gaining attention after a guest shared their experience attending Extended Evening Hours while staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Their expectation was simple: take advantage of lower crowds and knock out a few major attractions.
Extended hours Epcot – waste of time

Instead, they found themselves dealing with wait times that didn’t feel all that different from the daytime.
According to their post, even late into the night, major rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind were still hovering around an hour, while Test Track was even longer. Earlier in the evening, before extended hours even began, those wait times had already ballooned significantly—setting the tone for the rest of the night.

They also pointed out something that many guests don’t realize until they experience it: the pre-closing rush.
Right before EPCOT officially closes, guests flood into attraction queues. Since Disney allows people to enter lines up until the last minute, those queues don’t reset once Extended Evening Hours begin. Instead, they carry over.
That means Deluxe guests are still stuck behind large crowds, even though the park has technically closed.

The result? Extended Evening Hours can feel less like an exclusive perk and more like an extension of the regular day.
The guest mentioned riding Soarin’, but even that came with a moderate wait. After that, they decided to leave early rather than continue navigating long lines.
And they weren’t alone.
Other users in the Reddit thread echoed similar frustrations, noting that EPCOT’s Extended Evening Hours don’t always deliver the same value as other parks.
Part of that comes down to EPCOT’s layout.
It’s a beautiful park—but it’s not built for efficiency. Attractions are spread out, and moving between them takes time. When you only have two hours, those long walks can eat into your night quickly.
On top of that, large portions of World Showcase are closed during Extended Evening Hours. That limits where you can go, what you can do, and how crowds disperse throughout the park.
Instead of spreading out, guests are often concentrated in a smaller area—making the park feel busier than expected.
That said, not every experience is negative.

Some guests in the same thread shared completely different outcomes. They reported shorter waits, multiple rides, and a much smoother night overall.
The difference almost always comes down to crowd levels.
During slower weeks, Extended Evening Hours can absolutely live up to the hype. But during peak times—like spring break—that advantage starts to disappear.
So is it still worth it?
It can be. But it’s not something you should rely on without understanding how timing impacts the experience.
Because as this Reddit thread makes clear, those extra hours don’t always guarantee a better night at EPCOT.
