Disney World Just Made Vacations More Expensive for Families With Children

A price increase is coming to one of Walt Disney World Resort's most prestigious dining rooms, and families with young children are the ones who will feel it.

Starting June 2, 2026, the children's prix-fixe course at California Grill will cost $42, up from its current rate of $39. The $3 increase represents just under an 8% jump and lands exclusively on the kids' side of the menu. Walt Disney World Resort opted not to change the adult prix-fixe course, which remains at $99.

The children's course at the Disney's Contemporary Resort restaurant is a three-part affair. Kids choose one entrée from Grilled Steak, Seared Salmon, House-made Shells & Cheese, and Grilled Citrus-Glazed Chicken.

They can choose two of four side selections: Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes, Goat Cheese Polenta, Steamed Green Beans, and Brown Basmati Rice. Dessert offerings include Fresh Fruit, PB&J Mousse, and the Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Sandwich. Appetizers, including Hearts of Romaine and Chicken Noodle Soup, are priced à la carte and are not included in the prix-fixe structure.

Who the Increase Actually Affects

At fixed-price Table-Service restaurants across Walt Disney World Resort, the kids' menu is available to guests aged nine and younger. Guests who are ten or older order from the adult menu regardless of preference. Children three and under eat at no charge, either from a parent's plate or otherwise, so the youngest members of the family won't feel this particular increase at all.

The age-based restriction is specific to fixed-price Table-Service settings. At Quick-Service locations and select à la carte Table-Service restaurants, the kids' menu is available to guests of all ages.

Why California Grill Feels the Pinch More Than Most

This isn't just any restaurant absorbing a routine price tweak. California Grill sits at the top of Disney's Contemporary Resort — literally — and regularly ranks among the hardest dining reservations to land on Walt Disney World property.

Bookings frequently fill up at the 60-day mark, with evening reservations especially competitive thanks to the unobstructed view of Magic Kingdom Park's nightly fireworks spectacular from the restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows.
