A political post from Mark Hamill has triggered a sharp response from the White House.
The actor, best known for playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, has spent years criticizing Donald Trump online. His social media accounts regularly feature posts about elections, democracy, and Republican lawmakers.

Hamill endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 and later backed Kamala Harris during the 2024 election cycle. His political commentary has often drawn backlash from conservative figures and parts of the Star Wars fanbase.
This week, one post escalated that criticism into a direct clash with the Trump administration.
White House Responds to Mark Hamill Post
On May 6, Hamill shared an AI-generated image on Bluesky that appeared to show Trump beneath a gravestone reading, “Donald J. Trump: 1946–2024” beside the words, “If only.”
.@MarkHamill is one sick individual.
These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves.
This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President. pic.twitter.com/daJqcyssm7

Hamill later added: “He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON.”
The Trump administration’s Rapid Response 47 account later responded publicly on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“@MarkHamill is one sick individual,” the account wrote. “These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”
The exchange quickly spread across social media, placing Hamill among the latest Hollywood figures to become involved in online political battles tied to Trump.
Hamill has since issued a second statement on Bluesky, writing, “Accurate Edit for Clarity: ‘He should live long enough to… be held accountable for his… crimes.' Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate.”

The response also arrived shortly after another security scare involving the president.
On April 25, gunshots were reportedly fired near the security screening area outside the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.
Hamill's Political Feud With Trump Keeps Growing
The latest dispute is far from the first public clash between Hamill and the Trump administration.
Following Trump’s 2024 election victory, Hamill revealed he considered leaving the United States before deciding against it.
“She’s very clever. She didn’t respond right away, but a week later she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country,’” Hamill told The Times. “That son of a bitch, I thought. I’m not leaving.”

The White House later mocked the actor’s comments online and compared him to Rosie O'Donnell after she moved to Ireland.
Just days before the latest controversy, Hamill appeared in a Star Wars Day video alongside former President Barack Obama promoting the Obama Presidential Center.
In the clip, Obama described “a young person born into ordinary circumstances but restless, unsatisfied. A kid with big dreams. A bit of a rebel.”
“They join a scrappy group of underdogs and set out to change things,” Obama added.
Hamill interrupted by joking: “By blowing up a giant space laser?!”
May the Fourth be with YOU, from the Obama Presidential Center.

Obama responded: “Mark, this is not about you, as wonderful as you are. This is about them. This isn’t a monument to my legacy. It’s a gateway to yours.”
After Obama described the center as “a Force — for change,” Hamill answered in a Yoda voice: “Strong, the dad jokes are.”
Away from politics, Hamill has recently indicated his time in Star Wars may be finished.
The actor said in 2025 that Lucasfilm should “focus on the future and all the new characters” rather than continuing to rely on original trilogy stars like Luke Skywalker.
Hamill also joked there was “no way” he would return as a “naked Force ghost” after the ending of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Some had suggested he may cameo in Rey's standalone film – if the project ever actually moves ahead.
Despite that, he has continued praising his appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, saying the series finally showed Luke as a Jedi Master “at the peak of his powers.”
What are your thoughts on Mark Hamill's comments?

Actors no matter if I like them or not should stop shooting their mouths off involving politics. I have always likes Mark Hamill but now his loud mouthed political remarks makes him look like an idiot. He will NEVER leave America because that is where his paychecks come from and hisacting chances are higher. If you want to move then go. Who cares. Another Rich Leftist idiot that America does not need.
