Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is almost here. Cast member previews are already running. Annual Passholder previews start May 21, with a virtual queue in My Disney Experience already live. The general public opening is May 26, and the demand surrounding this attraction before a single paying guest has ridden it has been intense enough to sell out Hollywood Studios park reservations on two of the three preview dates within hours of the announcement.
The excitement is real and earned. This is one of the more significant reimaginings Hollywood Studios has produced in years, and it lands at a moment when the Muppets brand at Walt Disney World needed exactly this kind of statement. But excitement is not preparation, and there are six things about this ride that will change your experience if you know them before you get in line.
The Music Is There But You Have to Find It
The Electric Mayhem soundtrack is one of the biggest reasons people are excited about this version of Rock n Roller Coaster, and it delivers. The problem is that the volume is lower than most guests would expect. The audio mix puts more emphasis on ride effects than the music itself, which means guests who are not actively listening from the moment the launch sequence begins might finish the ride unsure which of the five possible songs they actually got.
The tracklist includes Song 2, Born to Be Wild featuring Camilla the Chicken, Love Rollercoaster featuring Jennifer Hudson and Questlove, Rock Rock Till You Drop featuring Def Leppard, and Walking on Sunshine featuring Kelly Clarkson. All five are worth hearing properly. Pay attention from the start.
The Ride Itself Has Not Changed
The entire reimagining was completed in a matter of months. That timeline did not leave room for changes to the actual track, mechanics, or ride route. Guests will follow the same path and experience the same inversions as the Aerosmith version. The scenes and vehicles look completely different, but the physical experience is identical to what it was before. If the original felt too jerky for you, this version will feel the same. Front rows are consistently smoother and worth requesting if jerkiness is a concern.
The Details Move Fast
The queue, pre-show, ride, and post-ride experience are paced quickly, and the attention to Muppets detail throughout is genuinely impressive. Easter eggs and hidden moments are everywhere, and the ride vehicle moves fast enough that blinking at the wrong moment means missing something significant. The most notable example is the Statler and Waldorf animatronics that appear near the end of the ride. They are there briefly and then gone, and most guests miss them entirely on the first ride. Start looking for details the moment you enter the building, not the moment the coaster launches.

Ask for the Test Seat
A test seat is available for guests who want to check fit before riding, but it is not positioned where guests will naturally encounter it. You need to ask a cast member specifically, and they will take you to a hallway between the boarding area and the ride exit. The seat dimensions match the original ride. Anyone with fit concerns should ask before they reach the boarding area instead of after.
The Chicken Exit and Where to Find It
Guests who make it through the queue and pre-show and decide at the boarding area that they would rather not ride can exit without getting on the coaster. Tell the cast member directing guests into rows, and they will direct you down the same hallway as the test seat toward the exit. The Muppets’ queue and pre-show in this version are worth experiencing on their own, and the chicken exit has become a more popular option because of them.
Single Rider Is Still Available
The single-rider queue carried over from the original attraction, with updated signage to match the new theming. Disney can close it at any time, and it likely will not be available immediately after opening. The historical caveat applies here, too. Single rider at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has not reliably beaten the posted standby wait time in the past, and there is no particular reason to expect that to change with this version. Use it situationally rather than as a default strategy.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens May 26. Passholder previews run May 21 through 23. Know these six things before you ride, and you will get more out of the experience than the guests standing next to you in line who did not.
