Universal Orlando Resort has spent the last several years reminding guests where the company’s roots really are. While modern franchises still dominate much of the resort, longtime fans have probably noticed a growing focus on older films that helped turn Universal into a theme park powerhouse in the first place.
That nostalgic energy has become even more noticeable since Epic Universe officially opened in 2025. Between retro merchandise, classic movie callbacks, and entire lands inspired by older properties, Universal has made it clear that the company still values the films that shaped generations of movie fans.
Now, one of the most beloved franchises in Universal history is preparing for a major return this summer.
After spending years mostly absent from the spotlight, Marty McFly and Doc Brown are officially heading back to Universal Studios Florida.

Universal Keeps Bringing Classic Movies Back
Fans have seen Universal leaning harder into nostalgia across the resort lately.
Stores around Universal Orlando Resort have featured more merchandise inspired by classic franchises like Jaws (1975), Ghostbusters (1984), and Back to the Future (1985). Guests have also spotted classic characters appearing more frequently throughout the parks.
Doc Brown has become one of the biggest examples of that trend. Over the past year, visitors at Universal Studios Florida have occasionally run into the famous scientist wandering through the park, greeting guests and stopping for photos. Those moments quickly spread online because longtime fans instantly connected with the character again.
Epic Universe also pushed Universal’s retro focus even further. Dark Universe became one of the new park’s biggest conversation starters thanks to its celebration of Universal Classic Monsters. Characters like Dracula and Frankenstein’s Monster suddenly became major parts of the company’s theme park identity again.
Because of all that, fans have started wondering what other older franchises Universal could bring back next.

A Ride Fans Still Miss
For many guests, Back to the Future represents far more than a movie trilogy.
Back to the Future: The Ride was once one of the defining attractions at Universal Studios Florida. The motion simulator attraction opened in 1991 and placed riders inside the famous DeLorean as they chased Biff Tannen through time with Doc Brown.
At the time, the attraction felt groundbreaking.
The ride combined giant screens, practical effects, storytelling, and humor, making guests feel as if they had stepped directly into Hill Valley. It quickly became one of the park’s signature experiences.
That made the attraction’s closure especially emotional for many fans.
Universal permanently closed Back to the Future: The Ride in 2007 before eventually replacing it with The Simpsons Ride and the Springfield area surrounding it.
Even now, many longtime park visitors still rank it among the best attractions Universal ever created.

The Franchise Is Officially Returning
Universal Orlando Resort has now confirmed that Back to the Future will return to Universal Studios Florida beginning June 5, 2026.
The return comes through Universal’s Mega Movie Parade, which celebrates some of the studio’s most iconic films. The parade quickly became popular because it focused heavily on older franchises rather than only newer intellectual properties.
Guests watching the parade can see floats inspired by franchises like Ghostbusters (1984), Jaws (1975), Jurassic Park (1993), and Back to the Future (1985).
That throwback approach helped the parade stand apart almost immediately.
For longtime Universal fans, it feels less like a typical parade and more like a celebration of the movies that helped shape the resort.

Summer Crowds Will See Marty and Doc Again
The Mega Movie Parade temporarily stepped away earlier this year during a seasonal hiatus. Universal originally planned for the entertainment offering to return during May 2026, but the schedule ultimately shifted deeper into the summer season.
Now, the parade officially resumes performances on June 5, 2026.
That means guests visiting Universal Studios Florida this summer will once again see Marty McFly and Doc Brown riding through the park aboard a float featuring the DeLorean time machine and music from the original films.
For fans who remember riding Back to the Future: The Ride years ago, the moment will probably feel especially emotional.
And many guests believe this may only be the start.

Fans Already Want More
Speculation surrounding Universal’s plans has only grown stronger recently.
Many fans believe Universal could eventually replace Fast & Furious: Supercharged with another retro property once the attraction closes. Two franchises continue showing up in discussions more than any others: Ghostbusters and Back to the Future.
Nothing has been officially confirmed, but excitement around the possibility continues building online.
Many longtime guests would love to see Universal create a modern dark ride based on one of those classic films. Between Dark Universe, the Mega Movie Parade, and the growing amount of retro merchandise across the parks, Universal seems more interested than ever in reconnecting with its movie history.
Beginning June 5, 2026, fans will once again hear the music of Back to the Future echo through Universal Studios Florida. And honestly, many visitors hope that it is only the beginning.
