Mark Hamill is best known to audiences around the world as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, the Jedi hero he first portrayed in George Lucas’ 1977 original film.
Over the years, Hamill has become inseparable from the role, returning throughout the sequel trilogy, and through “de-aged” appearances in The Mandalorian Season 2 (2020) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021).

Alongside Luke Skywalker, however, Hamill has also built a major reputation in voice acting, most famously as The Joker in multiple DC animated projects and video games. But one of his more unusual credits came years later in the horror genre.
In 2019, Hamill voiced a new version of Chucky the killer doll in MGM’s Child’s Play reboot, a standalone reimagining that had no connection to the original continuity. That film reimagined the character as an artificially intelligent “Buddi” doll rather than a human soul inhabiting a toy through voodoo.

The original version of Chucky, however, belongs to actor Brad Dourif, whose performance has defined the character for more than three decades.
Dourif first voiced the killer doll in Child’s Play (1988), returning for Child’s Play 2 (1990) and Child’s Play 3 (1991). He later continued with the franchise’s revival era in Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and Cult of Chucky (2017), before reprising the role once again in the television series Chucky (2021–2024).

Much like Hamill’s association with Luke, Dourif has become synonymous with Chucky. Now, Dourif has made it clear he has no intention of stepping away from the killer doll.
Appearing at Spooky Empire in Orlando, Florida (via CBR.com), the actor responded to a fan asking if he planned to “say goodbye” to the character now that he is “mostly retired.”
“Yeah, nobody’s doing Chucky but me,” he said, prompting applause from the audience.
As for whether Hamill will ever return to play Luke again, it's unlikely. While speaking in a 2025 interview with ComicBook.com, he reflected on his time as the Jedi Knight, saying Lucasfilm should focus on “new characters” and adding, “I had my time.”
