Major changes are continuing across Universal Orlando Resort, and two well-known experiences are now set to disappear as part of the resort's next wave of development.
The interesting part is that fans view these closures very differently. One has spent years battling a negative reputation among visitors. The other has consistently ranked among the most praised dining locations in theme parks.
Despite those differences, both appear headed toward the same destination as Universal prepares for a busy 2027.
The End Is Coming for a Divisive Attraction
Fast & Furious: Supercharged is officially scheduled to close in 2027.
The attraction has never enjoyed the popularity Universal likely hoped for when it debuted at Universal Studios Florida. While the Fast & Furious films are known for fast cars, street racing, and over-the-top action, many guests felt the ride failed to deliver that same excitement.
Instead, visitors boarded a party bus and experienced a story that relied heavily on screens and simulated action sequences.
Meanwhile, Universal is moving ahead with a much larger Fast & Furious project.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is currently being built where Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit once stood. The coaster is expected to provide the kind of thrills many fans wanted from the franchise all along.
Because of that, the closure of Supercharged feels like a logical next step as Universal refreshes its attraction lineup.

A Blank Canvas for Universal
What happens after Supercharged closes remains one of the biggest questions facing Universal Studios Florida.
Universal has not announced any replacement plans, but fan theories continue to spread.
Ghostbusters and Back to the Future are often mentioned because both franchises remain closely connected to Universal's history and continue to resonate with guests.
Another idea is to bring back attractions inspired by Universal's classic studio-tour era. Experiences such as Earthquake: The Big One allowed visitors to experience movie magic firsthand instead of simply watching it.
Many longtime fans would welcome a modern attraction that brings that interactive spirit back to the park.

A Beloved Restaurant Also Faces an Uncertain Future
While the Supercharged closure generated little surprise, the situation surrounding Mythos Restaurant has drawn a stronger reaction.
The award-winning restaurant is expected to close in 2027 as Universal continues transforming Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure.
For years, Mythos has been regarded as one of the standout dining experiences at the resort. Guests often made special trips just to eat there, making it one of the most recognizable locations within the park.
However, its future is tied to the future of the entire land.
Universal has gradually removed major elements of Lost Continent. Poseidon's Fury closed in 2023, and demolition work has steadily altered the area ever since.
As neighboring lands expanded in popularity, Lost Continent increasingly became a pass-through location rather than a destination.
That shift led many fans to believe a larger redevelopment project was only a matter of time.

Nintendo Rumors Continue to Grow
Attention has now shifted toward what Universal may build next.
The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon remain the two franchises most commonly linked to the future of the Lost Continent.
Neither has been officially announced, but both would align with Universal's partnership with Nintendo.
Some fans believe Universal could eventually place Nintendo-themed experiences throughout multiple parks rather than keeping everything concentrated in one location.
A Zelda land would fit naturally with Islands of Adventure's existing themes, while Pokémon offers nearly limitless possibilities for attractions, dining, and merchandise.
Until Universal shares its plans, though, everything remains speculation.

Universal's Future Is Taking Shape
Universal Orlando's parks could look very different in just a few years.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged is preparing for its final chapter, while Mythos appears set to become part of Lost Continent's continuing transformation.
Although Universal has yet to reveal every detail, the company continues investing in larger franchises and significant redevelopment projects across the resort.
The next chapter remains a mystery, but one thing is already clear: 2027 will mark the end of two familiar Universal experiences and the beginning of whatever comes next.
