A familiar dining spot at Universal Orlando Resort is approaching its final days. After more than a decade of serving guests, one of CityWalk’s established quick-service locations is preparing to close permanently, making way for a new concept that Universal hopes will carry the space into its next chapter.
The announcement adds another change to a resort that has spent years expanding attractions, entertainment, and guest offerings. This time, however, the focus is on food rather than rides.
Why CityWalk Matters to Guests
Universal CityWalk plays a major role in the overall resort experience. While many visitors pass through on their way to the parks, others spend hours enjoying everything the district has to offer.
Guests can shop for merchandise, explore entertainment options, and take on interactive escape room experiences. Restaurants remain one of the biggest reasons people visit, with choices ranging from quick snacks to full-service meals.
Because CityWalk serves as a gathering place before and after park visits, having a variety of dining options available has become increasingly important.
That is why the upcoming closure of one longtime restaurant has drawn attention from returning guests.

Hot Dog Hall of Fame Is Reaching the Finish Line
Universal has confirmed that Hot Dog Hall of Fame will permanently close in July 2026.
The restaurant opened in 2014 and offered a menu inspired by famous hot-dog styles from across the United States. Guests could stop by for a quick meal without sacrificing valuable vacation time.
Over the years, the location carved out its own place within CityWalk. Many visitors appreciated its simple approach and dependable menu, making it a repeat stop during their trips.
After more than 12 years in operation, however, the restaurant is preparing to serve its final guests.

Summer Crowds May Notice the Difference
The closure arrives during a period when Universal Orlando Resort experiences some of its largest crowds.
Quick-service restaurants often help visitors stay on schedule during busy days. Whether families are rushing to a park opening or looking for a convenient dinner option, fast dining locations help keep people moving.
Once Hot Dog Hall of Fame closes, CityWalk will temporarily have one fewer quick-service venue available.
The district still offers numerous dining choices, so guests should not have trouble finding food. Even so, the loss of a familiar counter-service location could become noticeable during the busiest meal periods.
Thankfully, Universal already knows what is coming next.

What Is Taking Over the Space?
The former Hot Dog Hall of Fame location will become Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice.
Founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone, the concept combines specialty hot dogs with Italian ice and already operates outside Universal Orlando Resort.
The new restaurant allows Universal to keep a similar food category in the space while introducing updated branding and a fresh identity. The celebrity connection may also attract visitors curious about the new offering.
More broadly, the move fits CityWalk’s ongoing strategy of refreshing its lineup while maintaining a strong mix of dining and entertainment experiences.
A New Chapter for CityWalk
The closure of Hot Dog Hall of Fame marks the end of a notable run at Universal CityWalk. For more than a decade, it provided guests with a quick and easy dining option in one of the resort’s busiest areas.
Soon, that chapter will come to a close. In its place, Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice will bring a new concept to the district, continuing Universal Orlando Resort’s effort to keep CityWalk evolving alongside the rest of the resort.
