Six days into a resort-wide air conditioning failure at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, the cooling system remains offline and Disney has not said a word publicly about when it will be repaired.

BlogMickey visited the resort this afternoon and found portable cooling equipment running in some areas while the primary system stays down. The measures provide localized relief. They are not a solution. And for guests booked to stay at one of Disney's most expensive Deluxe Resorts in the middle of a Central Florida summer, the distinction matters enormously.
Here is the full picture of where things stand and what guests need to know.
The Current State of the Resort

BlogMickey found portable cooling units deployed in the resort's shopping and dining areas. The configurations varied by space. In one seating area, a freestanding evaporative cooler on wheels was running without ducting, pushing cooled air directly into the room. In the quick-service dining area and the gift shop, the setup was more substantial, with portable spot AC units running flexible ducts up into the ceiling.
Cast member work areas also had small to medium fans running behind counters and at the check-in desk.
The honest assessment from BlogMickey's visit: relief was real but limited. Next to the machines the air was noticeably cooler. Away from them, the effect dropped off. The lobby and open spaces were warmer than the areas with active cooling units, and a floor above the lobby conditions were noticeably worse. Not unbearable in the best spots but not what anyone booked a Deluxe Resort for.
That is the ceiling of what portable equipment can accomplish in a building of this size. Spot coolers cool spots. They cannot replace a central cooling system across a multi-story resort.
How This Started

The outage began on June 18 when the air conditioning system at Wilderness Lodge went offline. Social media reports started circulating around 2 PM that afternoon. Some early accounts confused the location with Fort Wilderness, the adjacent campground and cabin property, but the outage is at Wilderness Lodge specifically.
Within hours it was clear the failure was resort-wide. The iconic 82-foot timber lobby, which normally functions as a cool retreat from Florida's summer heat, was accumulating heavy warm air. Guest rooms were heating up fast.
By Friday morning, June 19, the system had been down for more than 24 hours with no confirmed timeline for repair. Cast members at the front desk were reportedly telling guests they did not know what caused the failure or when it would be fixed. Guests were documenting room temperatures in the 90s. One Reddit user reported their in-room thermometer reading 92 degrees Fahrenheit late Thursday evening.
The timing could not have been worse. Central Florida was simultaneously under back-to-back Heat Advisories from the National Weather Service. Heat index values were forecast between 105 and 111 degrees Fahrenheit in the early days of the outage. Conditions have moderated somewhat since then, but today's high reached 96 degrees with heat index values still pushing into triple digits.
Guests took to Reddit, X, and Facebook vacation planning groups immediately. A thread on r/WaltDisneyWorld titled “Wilderness Lodge AC still down” became a live update hub. The reaction on social media captured the frustration clearly, including from an observer who noted: “The people in the Facebook groups calling people entitled for being upset about no AC in 100-degree weather in FLORIDA is sending me right now.”
The Dining Situation
The outage also affected the resort's dining operations. Artist Point and Whispering Canyon Cafe both had no available reservations showing in the early days of the outage, with Disney suspending availability at those locations as kitchen spaces and dining rooms without climate control could not operate normally. Cast members were contacting guests with existing reservations to cancel them.
As of BlogMickey's visit today, reservations are showing as available again at both restaurants. Whether that reflects partial restoration of cooling in those specific spaces under the portable equipment or another adjustment is not confirmed.
Disney has not addressed the dining situation publicly any more than it has addressed the outage itself.
What Disney Has and Has Not Done

Disney has not responded to requests for comment about the outage. No repair timeline has been provided. No cause has been officially explained. No public statement has been issued about what the company is doing to assist affected guests.
What Disney has done, based on multiple social media reports from guests, is offer to relocate affected guests to other resort hotels. Those reports have not been officially confirmed but have appeared consistently enough across multiple guest accounts to be worth noting. Paying Deluxe Resort rates of $500 to $800 or more per night for a room that has been reaching 90-degree temperatures is not a situation most guests would accept, and relocation is the appropriate response when that is what a resort is delivering.
What Guests Need to Know Right Now
If you are booked to stay at Wilderness Lodge and your check-in date is approaching, call Disney before you arrive. Ask directly about the current status of the air conditioning repair. If the system is still offline, ask what accommodations are being offered. The relocation reports suggest Disney has been willing to move guests to other properties, and that option is worth pursuing rather than checking into a room without functioning climate control in a Central Florida summer.
If you have dining reservations at Artist Point or Whispering Canyon Cafe, confirm them before you travel to the resort. The disruption to reservations during the early days of the outage may have affected bookings, and checking in advance is simpler than arriving to find the situation has changed.
If you are visiting Wilderness Lodge as a resort-hopping stop rather than as a guest, know that the property is operating under conditions that are not normal. The portable cooling measures provide some relief in targeted areas but the experience of moving through the resort is warmer than it should be.
Disney has not said when this will be resolved. We will update this when that changes. If you have questions about your Wilderness Lodge reservation or want to know how to navigate the current situation, leave a comment below.
