Disney World Suspends COVID Restrictions for 3 Extra Days This Summer

Walt Disney World just extended its Good to Go Days calendar further into summer, and if you are an Annual Passholder with a late June or early July trip on the radar, the new dates are directly relevant to your planning.

Three dates have been added: June 30, July 8, and July 9. Combined with the June dates that were added earlier this week, the Good to Go Days calendar now covers a stretch from late June through the second week of July. That is a more generous window than most Passholders might have expected heading into peak summer season.

Separately, the Extended Evening Hours schedule has been updated to show Animal Kingdom taking over the Wednesday slot from Magic Kingdom for two nights in late August and early September. If you are staying at a qualifying Disney resort hotel during that window, the change affects how you can use that perk.

Here is the full breakdown on both.

What Good to Go Days Actually Mean for Your Visit

Good to Go Days let Annual Passholders visit a Walt Disney World theme park without holding a theme park reservation. On every other date, Passholders need to secure a reservation in advance the same way any other guest does. Good to Go removes that requirement for the designated dates.

The pass tier rules still apply. If your pass tier includes a blockout on a Good to Go date, the blockout wins. Good to Go does not override your pass's blockout calendar. Capacity limits are also still in effect, so an extremely busy Good to Go Day could still result in park capacity being reached.

The My Disney Experience detail that catches some Passholders off guard: if you already hold a park reservation for a date that Disney later designates as Good to Go, that reservation is automatically removed. You can still find it in the My Plans section of the app, but it will no longer count against your reservation hold limit, which is actually a benefit for Passholders who hold multiple reservations.

The full upcoming Good to Go calendar includes June 25, 28, 29, and 30, plus July 8 and 9. Dates from earlier in 2026 that have already passed covered stretches in January, February, March, April, and portions of June.

Worth flagging alongside Good to Go: there is a separate walk-in option available on most days to all guests, not just Passholders. Any guest with valid admission can enter most parks after 2 PM without a reservation. The exception is Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays, where this exemption does not apply.

Extended Evening Hours: What Changed and Why

Extended Evening Hours is a Disney Deluxe Resort perk, available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green. It gives qualifying guests access to a designated park for a set window of time after regular hours end, when queues are shorter and the park is quieter.

Magic Kingdom has been running Extended Evening Hours every Wednesday throughout the summer. EPCOT holds its own slot on Mondays. But on August 26 and September 2, Animal Kingdom is replacing Magic Kingdom in the Wednesday slot.

Why? The pattern is familiar from previous years. Late August and early September is when Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts ramping up at Magic Kingdom, and the combination of party nights with the park's regular operating schedule makes the Extended Evening Hours window harder to fit into Magic Kingdom's calendar. Animal Kingdom has absorbed this slot before when the scheduling gets tight.

One thing to understand before building your plans around the Animal Kingdom dates: the hours are different from what Magic Kingdom delivers. Magic Kingdom's Extended Evening Hours typically run from 10 PM to midnight or 11 PM to 1 AM. Animal Kingdom's Extended Evening Hours on August 26 and September 2 run from 6 PM to 8 PM. The park's regular hours end at 6 PM on those dates, so the extended window immediately follows close of regular operations. It is a shorter and earlier window than the late-night Magic Kingdom experience.

Four attractions will operate during Animal Kingdom's Extended Evening Hours: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Na'vi River Journey, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether. Select food, beverage, and merchandise locations will also be open.

The full schedule through September 2 is straightforward. Magic Kingdom runs Wednesdays through August 19. EPCOT runs Mondays through August 31, from 9 PM to 11 PM each night. Animal Kingdom takes over the final two Wednesdays, August 26 and September 2, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

How to Use This Information on a Disney World Trip

For Annual Passholders, the new July Good to Go dates open up some of the summer's busiest and most expensive park days without requiring advance reservation management. July 8 and 9 specifically are newly confirmed reservation-free dates in a week that would otherwise demand more planning coordination for Passholders who want flexibility.

D On days that are not Good to Go, a Passholder who arrives after 2 PM at most parks still does not need a reservation, which means the actual number of reservation-required hours on a typical park day is smaller than it might seem.

For guests staying at eligible Disney resorts with Animal Kingdom on the agenda in late August, the Extended Evening Hours dates on August 26 and September 2 are worth planning around specifically. A standard Animal Kingdom day that ends at 6 PM and then reopens for qualifying guests only until 8 PM offers a meaningfully quieter second window for Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest. Two hours is not a long window but it is enough to knock out two or three attractions with notably shorter waits than the standard park day delivers.
