Few times of year are busier at Walt Disney World than the Christmas season. Decorations cover the parks, seasonal snacks arrive across the resort, and special-ticket events draw thousands of guests eager to experience Disney's holiday offerings.
Now, Disney has announced that one of Magic Kingdom's newest nighttime productions will once again step aside during one of the resort's most popular seasonal events. Beginning with the first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on November 8, 2026, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will not perform on party nights.
For many guests, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is the highlight of the holiday season at Walt Disney World. The separately ticketed event offers exclusive entertainment and experiences unavailable during standard operating hours. Tickets generally range from roughly $100 to more than $200 per guest, depending on the selected date.
One of the event's biggest draws remains Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas Parade, which fills Magic Kingdom with holiday music, seasonal floats, and appearances from fan-favorite Disney characters. Disney's decision to remove Disney Starlight from those evenings ensures that the Christmas parade remains one of the central entertainment offerings of the night.
Guests familiar with last year's seasonal events may not be surprised by the announcement. Disney implemented the same approach during both the Halloween and Christmas seasons after Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away debuted on July 20, 2025. The company has continued using the strategy, suggesting it has worked well for both operations and guest experience.
While Disney Starlight won't appear during party dates, the nighttime parade will continue running on most non-party evenings, where it generally performs twice each night.
Although Walt Disney World's official holiday season begins on November 13, 2026, holiday festivities actually start earlier for some visitors. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party returns on November 8, giving guests access to Christmas entertainment nearly a week before the wider resort celebrates the season.
The event will continue on select nights through December, and Disney expects strong demand. Historically, many party dates have sold out before the holidays arrive.
Disney has spent years positioning Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party as more than an after-hours event.
