Guests staying at eligible Disney Resorts Collection hotels with arrivals between May 26 and September 8, 2026 have been receiving complimentary admission to a Disney World water park on their check-in day, included with their resort stay.

Instead of a half-day sprint into a theme park on tired travel legs, check-in day becomes a water park afternoon. No Lightning Lane decisions to make. No dining reservations to hit. Having both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach available during that window gave the perk a real dimension of choice. These are not the same park wearing different clothes.
Two Parks That Are Not Even Close to the Same Experience
The distinction between Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach is worth spelling out for guests who have only visited one or who have not been to either in several years.
Typhoon Lagoon is the park that leans into its tropical, storm-ravaged narrative. The wave pool is the centerpiece and it earns that status, generating the kind of surf conditions that guests from landlocked states find genuinely surprising. The theming throughout, the grounded fishing boat at the summit, the ruined port village aesthetic, commits to its fictional backstory in a way that makes the park feel like a place rather than just a collection of slides.
Blizzard Beach is operating on a completely different premise. A ski resort in central Florida that melted and became a water park is the kind of concept that requires a certain commitment to Disney logic, and the park delivers on it fully. Summit Plummet is one of the fastest free-fall slides in the world and is the ride that serious water park guests come specifically for. The overall energy is more whimsical and more overtly Disney than Typhoon Lagoon, which runs a little more serious about its wave pool identity.
Knowing which one fits your group better is more useful than picking randomly. Typhoon Lagoon suits the guest who wants big wave experiences and a beachy atmosphere. Blizzard Beach suits the guest who wants the tallest slide and a sillier Disney concept to sink into.
What September 9 Through the Rest of 2026 Looks Like
From September 9 forward, Blizzard Beach becomes the sole operating Disney World water park. Guests visiting in fall 2026 will have access to one water park rather than two, and the choice that made this summer's perk more interesting disappears with Typhoon Lagoon's closure.
The free water park benefit on hotel check-in day also expires September 8. Guests with arrivals from September 9 onward are not eligible for the summer perk, though Blizzard Beach remains fully operational as a separately ticketed experience.
Typhoon Lagoon's refurbishment is expected to last several months. No official reopening date has been announced. The park first opened in 1989 as Disney World's second water park, following the permanently closed River Country.
