Walt Disney World has added four resort-area construction and maintenance notices to an already crowded refurbishment calendar. The hotels will remain open, but guests at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village could encounter noise, detours, transportation changes, or temporary amenity closures.
These projects are not equal. Three should be manageable with a little advance planning. Kidani Village is different: depending on your dates, the work will change where you enter, where you check in, which elevators you can use, and which indoor amenities remain available.
That distinction matters before anyone begins looking for a different hotel.
Kidani Village Guests Face the Largest Disruption
Beginning August 17, Disney will refurbish the lobby and surrounding areas at Kidani Village in phases. This work follows the resort’s recently completed guest-room refurbishment, part of the broader renovation schedule at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
From August 17 through October 9, the main lobby and primary entrance will close. Check-in will move to the Palace Library, meaning arriving guests will not receive the usual entrance experience during that period.
Johari Treasures, Kidani Village’s merchandise location, will also close from August 17 through August 28.
The project becomes more complicated during two later phases. From September 28 through October 9, the north-side lobby corridor will be unavailable, along with the second-floor north lobby elevators and outdoor terrace observation deck.
From October 26 through November 6, work shifts to the south-side lobby corridor. Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and outdoor terrace observation deck will all be unavailable during that phase.
Kidani Village’s pools and principal dining locations are not listed as closing. Still, this goes beyond construction walls at the edge of a hotel. It reaches the spaces guests use to arrive, orient themselves, do laundry, entertain children, and move through the building.
Anyone staying during those dates should review Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge resort information before arrival and watch for instructions concerning alternate entrances and check-in locations.
Yacht and Beach Club Lose a Transportation Option
A much shorter interruption is coming to Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Their FriendShip Boat dock will close for maintenance from August 17 through August 21.
Direct bus service will be available to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests can still walk to EPCOT through the International Gateway-area walkway, while those heading to Hollywood Studios can walk or use the Disney Skyliner from the station outside EPCOT’s International Gateway.
The boat closure does not isolate either hotel, but it removes one of the Crescent Lake area’s most relaxing transportation options. Families with small children, mobility concerns, or tightly timed dining reservations should allow additional travel time.
Disney has made similar temporary transportation adjustments elsewhere, including a previous boat-dock refurbishment at Wilderness Lodge. The practical lesson is familiar: an alternative may exist, but it may not provide the same experience or travel time.
Saratoga Springs Adds Work at Its Front Door
At Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, portions of the porte-cochère—the covered arrival area—are now included in refurbishment work continuing through fall 2026.
Disney has not attached an additional closure to this portion of the project. Guests may, however, see or hear daytime construction around the resort’s entrance.
The porte-cochère joins an existing Saratoga Springs project list that includes the Treehouse Villas, The Turf Club Lounge, The Turf Club Bar & Grill, and Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Disney’s current Saratoga Springs notice provides the individual closure windows.
This is unlikely to ruin a stay by itself, but the accumulation matters. Guests booking Saratoga Springs for a calm resort day—or arriving after paying Deluxe Villa prices—may care more about construction around dining, recreation, and the hotel entrance than visitors who plan to spend every waking hour inside the parks.
Disney recently completed work at several other properties, giving some travelers more fully operational resort alternatives.
Fort Wilderness Guests May Need Extra Time
At Fort Wilderness, soil-erosion prevention work is underway along the sidewalk on Big Pine Trail and is scheduled to continue through mid-October.
Disney has not announced an amenity closure connected to this work. Guests may see or hear construction during the day, and roadway detours could occasionally create alternate travel routes.
That matters at Fort Wilderness because getting around is already part of the vacation calculus. A redirected path may add only a few minutes, but those minutes become more consequential when guests are connecting to internal transportation, a boat, a dining reservation, or a theme-park bus.
The sensible response to these four projects is not panic. It is precision. Yacht and Beach Club guests face five days without one boat dock. Fort Wilderness and Saratoga Springs guests face possible daytime inconvenience. Kidani Village guests face meaningful operational changes.
Before changing a reservation, compare your travel dates with the exact closure windows. Disney World construction may be unavoidable in 2026, but being surprised by it is not.
