The exit experience at Magic Kingdom Park looks different this week, and the change happened without any announcement from Walt Disney World Resort.
New Barriers Along the Magic Kingdom Ferryboat Queue
WDWNT reported on July 27 that the green construction walls first installed along the Seven Seas Lagoon walkway outside Magic Kingdom Park last week had been extended further. Temporary fencing is now actively routing guests around the barriers as they head to the ferry loading area for transportation to the Transportation and Ticket Center. Concrete blocks and other construction equipment are visible in the vicinity, though no active building work has been observed behind the walls yet.
The expansion arrived without any public notice from Walt Disney World Resort. Guests simply arrived to find the construction footprint larger than it had been the week before.
Ferryboat service between Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center continues to operate normally throughout the construction activity. Monorail service to the TTC remains available for guests who prefer an alternate route.
The Project Behind the Barriers
The growing construction presence at the Magic Kingdom Park entrance is the physical result of a project initiated earlier this year. Florida's water management district approved Walt Disney World Resort's plans to build a new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park in March 2026, with the goal of increasing transportation capacity between the park and the Transportation and Ticket Center. Floodplain compensation work connected to the dock development is also underway in the surrounding area.
The new dock is being built in anticipation of a fourth ferryboat joining the Seven Seas Lagoon fleet. The vessel — named the Meg Gilbert Crofton, after the fourth president of Walt Disney World Resort — will sail alongside the Admiral Joe Fowler, the General Joe Potter, and the Richard F. Irvine when it arrives sometime in 2027. Walt Disney World Resort hasn't announced a specific opening date for the new dock, but it is expected to come online around the same time as the new ferryboat's debut.
