Disney World guests have plenty to keep track of in 2026, and the usual vacation planning checklist is only part of it.
Park hours, attraction closures, dining reservations, and Lightning Lane plans still matter, but Disney has also rolled out or tightened several rules across the resort. Some affect transportation and hotel benefits. Others change how Disney handles merchandise events, outside businesses, attraction queues, and even payments.
A few of these policies existed before this year, but Disney is now enforcing them much more directly for guests, which can make an old policy feel like a brand-new rule.
Here are seven changes visitors should know before heading to Disney World in 2026.
Disney Springs Transportation Is More Limited
Disney Springs transportation no longer works as freely as it once did.
In June 2026, Disney added new eligibility requirements for guests using buses and boats from Disney Springs to Disney Resort hotels.
Guests staying at Disney hotels can use the transportation, while other visitors may qualify if they have an eligible dining or experience reservation at the resort they want to visit. Cast Members can ask guests to verify those reservations before boarding.
That means visitors can no longer assume that a stop at Disney Springs automatically gives them access to transportation to every resort.
Early Merchandise Lines Face a New Restriction
Disney Springs has also become stricter about guests showing up extremely early for merchandise releases.
Guests were already prohibited from staying overnight in parking structures, but Disney now has a stricter policy in place to prevent overnight and pre-dawn arrivals.
On merchandise-release mornings, parking garages and rideshare loops stay closed until 7 a.m. Anyone arriving before that time can be asked to leave and return later.
The overnight rule itself isn't new, but the 7 a.m. opening time creates a much clearer restriction for collectors.
Water Park Admission Now Has a Seasonal Limit
Disney Resort guests also have a new condition attached to the complimentary water park benefit.
Disney introduced free water park admission on the day of hotel check-in in 2025. In 2026, however, guests only qualify during a specific summer period.
Eligible check-in dates run from May 26 through September 8, 2026.
Guests arriving during that window can receive complimentary check-in-day admission to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon or Disney's Blizzard Beach. Guests arriving outside those dates do not receive the perk.
So the benefit remains, but Disney has placed a firm seasonal eligibility rule around it.
DVC Rentals Now Come With Clearer Boundaries
Disney Vacation Club members also face tighter rules this year.
Members can continue renting unused points and reservations, but Disney clarified its commercial-use policy in March 2026.
The company can take action when members repeatedly use their memberships to rent out their businesses. Possible consequences include restrictions on banking, borrowing, or transferring points. Disney may also limit access to certain online features or cancel future reservations.
Occasional rentals remain allowed. Disney's stronger policy focuses on repeated commercial use.
Disney Is Taking Outside Businesses More Seriously
Unauthorized businesses operating on Disney property are also getting more attention.
Disney already prohibited unauthorized commercial activity, but enforcement became much stronger in January 2026 when the company began issuing cease-and-desist notices to third-party operators.
That can affect guests who previously relied on outside companies for services at Disney hotels or elsewhere on resort property.
A business that operated with little interference before can't assume Disney will continue to allow it to do so.
Cosmic Rewind Has Stricter Crowd Procedures
At EPCOT, Disney has also changed how guests move through Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
The transition from the attraction's pre-show to the next part of the queue has sometimes led to crowding, particularly when guests rush toward the exits.
Disney has tested new procedures that allow Cast Members to hold groups, create lanes, and control when guests move forward.
There isn't a single permanent rule announced for the attraction, but guests now need to follow cast member instructions rather than treating the pre-show exit as an open race to the next room.
Disney Gift Cards Are Easier to Save
Not every new rule creates a restriction.
Disney updated My Disney Experience in June to allow eligible Disney Gift Cards to be saved for future purchases.
Before the update, guests often had to re-enter their card information when paying for items such as mobile food orders. Now, saved cards can remain available for later transactions.
It's more of a system rule than a guest restriction, but it changes how Disney handles Gift Card payments inside the app.
Disney World Guests Need to Know the New Rules
These seven changes don't all work the same way, but they share one thing: they affect how guests interact with Disney World in 2026.
Some limit access. Others define who qualifies for certain benefits or services. Several take existing policies and give Disney a much stronger means of enforcing them.
For visitors, that means relying on how Disney worked during a previous vacation can lead to surprises.
Checking the current rules before arriving can help guests avoid transportation problems, missed perks, merchandise complications, and other headaches during their trip.
