A trip to Disney Springs usually comes with a few familiar sights, and one of them has unexpectedly disappeared.
Guests visiting World of Disney are discovering that the large Stitch figure once displayed above one of the store's entrances is no longer there. Disney has not announced why it was removed, leaving fans to wonder whether they're looking at a temporary refurbishment or a permanent change.

For now, the answer remains a mystery.
Guests Quickly Spotted the Difference
Disney fans have a reputation for noticing even the smallest changes around the parks and resorts.
This one didn't take long.
The oversized Stitch display had become part of the storefront for years, greeting shoppers with the mischievous smile that made the character famous. Now, visitors approaching the entrance will notice the sign remains, but Stitch himself is nowhere to be found.
Without any official statement from Disney, guests have been left to speculate.
Could Maintenance Be the Reason?
There's at least one logical explanation.
World of Disney has already seen exterior work this year, including updates to some of its signage. Because of those improvements, it's possible Disney temporarily removed the Stitch figure while continuing maintenance around the building.

That doesn't necessarily mean the character is gone for good.
Until Disney says otherwise, there's no way to know whether the display is being cleaned, repaired, replaced, or simply stored during ongoing work.
Why This Matters to Disney Fans
While removing a decorative figure might not seem like major news, longtime Disney visitors understand why it stands out.
World of Disney isn't just another gift shop. It's one of the flagship retail locations at Walt Disney World and often serves as the final stop before guests head home.
Its exterior has become almost as recognizable as the merchandise inside.
For countless families, Stitch became part of the experience. Some used him as a meeting point, while others included him in vacation photos before heading inside to shop.
Those traditions are exactly why fans notice changes like this.
Stitch's Popularity Has Never Slowed Down
More than two decades after Lilo & Stitch (2002) debuted, Stitch continues to rank among Disney's most recognizable characters.

His image appears throughout Disney Parks on apparel, collectible pins, plush toys, drinkware, accessories, and seasonal merchandise. New collections featuring Stitch arrive regularly, and the character remains especially popular with younger guests and longtime Disney fans alike.
Because of that lasting popularity, it's understandable that his disappearance from such a visible location sparked curiosity.
Will Stitch Return?
Right now, nobody outside Disney knows.
The company hasn't announced plans for the figure or suggested whether the removal is permanent. Until that changes, guests visiting Disney Springs should expect to find the World of Disney entrance looking a little different than they remember.
If the removal is tied to ongoing exterior improvements, Stitch may eventually reclaim his familiar perch above the store. Until then, one of Disney Springs' most recognizable photo spots will remain noticeably incomplete.
