Disneyland Resort has a new weapon in its ongoing fight against the line-cutting and reseller chaos that has turned weekly releases of new Disney Trading Pins into recurring madness.
The Weekly Drop That's Been Causing Problems

Every Tuesday, Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and the Disney Store release new Disney Trading Pins — open-edition, limited-edition, and limited-release styles that the most dedicated collectors begin lining up for well before the parks open. The most popular designs sell out within minutes, and the pressure around those releases has created an environment ripe for conflict.
The in-person experience at park merchandise locations has been particularly turbulent. Spot-saving, line-cutting, and the confrontations they trigger — verbal and occasionally physical — have become a recurring feature of Tuesday pin drops. The situation echoes what unfolded during the recent global Disney Lorcana trading card release, which generated fights at locations around the world.
Paper Tickets Enter the Picture

WDWNT reported on August 4 that Disney cast members at Disneyland Resort merchandise locations were handing out paper tickets to guests waiting in line for the weekly pin release. The outlet shared a photo of one of the slips, which listed the store name — Westward Ho Trading Company — and the release date.
The system works as follows: one ticket per person, distributed in the order in which they arrived. When a Disney Park guest reaches the register to make their purchase, the ticket gets handed over to the cast member completing the transaction. Anyone who cuts in line after tickets are distributed walks away empty-handed — no ticket, no purchase, no reward for bad behavior.

Disneyland Resort appears to be testing the approach at merchandise locations across Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District. Disney cast members told WDWNT that the ticketing system is currently earmarked specifically for Kingdom Hearts-inspired pin releases, though Disneyland Resort could extend it to other Tuesday drops in the future.
