One of the most recognizable storefronts in Adventureland at Disneyland Park has disappeared behind scaffolding and scrim. Here's what Southern California Disney Park guests need to know.
Scaffolding Wraps the Facade
On Thursday, WDWNT reported that scrim and scaffolding had been installed around nearly the entire exterior facade of the Adventureland Bazaar merchandise location at Disneyland Park. The outlet shared a photo of the construction setup, which includes wooden plank barriers surrounding the portions of scaffolding that would otherwise be within guests' reach. Signs on those barriers direct shoppers to the gift shop entrance, describing the “Excursion Supplier” as “open” and advertising the store's selection of “clothing, sundries, and gear.”
Despite the significant construction presence on the exterior, the Adventureland Bazaar remains open and accessible to Disneyland Park guests. The interior of the merchandise location appears unaffected by whatever work Disneyland Resort has planned for the facade. No upcoming closures for the shop are currently listed on the Disneyland Resort operational calendar.
Disneyland Resort has not commented on the project, which is standard for exterior refurbishment work that doesn't force a guest-facing closure.
What Might Come Next
A few open questions remain about the scope of the project. Whether additional elements of the Adventureland Bazaar — including its iconic painted sign and the archway entrance that has defined the building's appearance for decades — will eventually be obscured by construction materials remains unconfirmed.
Disney has a history of refurbishing merchandise locations in phases, keeping portions of a store open while rotating the active construction zone from one section to another. Whether Disneyland Resort intends to approach the Adventureland Bazaar that way or limit the work entirely to the exterior facade hasn't been addressed.
