Few moments in Star Wars history could be bigger than watching its most recognizable heroes collide with some of Marvel's biggest characters.
That's what's about to happen as Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of A New Hope (1977) with an unprecedented crossover.
Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles is a limited five-part comic book series that brings the two iconic franchises together, with the first issue scheduled to arrive in January 2027.
The project was recently unveiled by Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm Publishing, with artwork on Marvel.com already offering a glimpse at the enormous cast of characters involved.
Among the Star Wars characters featured are Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Vader, while the Marvel side includes Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, Deadpool, Black Widow, Thor, Wolverine, and the Fantastic Four.

Michael Siglain, Creative Director of Lucasfilm Publishing, said the crossover is fitting given the companies' shared history. “On April 12th, 1977, Marvel Comics introduced readers to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars #1. Now, 50 years later, it's only fitting that the Star Wars galaxy collides with the Marvel Universe to celebrate the 50th anniversary of A New Hope,” he said.
The story will see the Star Wars heroes face Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire, who have formed an alliance with Doctor Doom, while Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewbacca fight alongside Spider-Man and the Avengers. According to Empire, details are limited but the story takes place in the Earth-616 universe, with a spell causing the events of A New Hope to “crash into reality.”
The title itself combines A New Hope with Marvel's famous “Avengers, assemble” catchphrase.
Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles #1 arrives in January 2027.
