Few 2026 releases have had a run quite like Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and released in late July, the fourth Sony-Marvel Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland has steadily ascended the industry's all-time charts, first clearing $1 billion, then $2 billion, before dethroning Avengers: Endgame (2019) on the domestic leaderboard.
The film's latest achievement may be its most significant yet. According to figures reported by Comic Book Movie, the film's worldwide total now stands at $2.32 billion, surpassing James Cameron's Titanic (1997), which earned $2.257 billion during its own historic run, to become the fourth-highest-grossing film ever released.
Sitting just below Avatar: The Way of Water‘s (2022) $2.334 billion third-place finish, Spider-Man: Brand New Day appears poised to overtake it in the coming weeks. Beyond that, only Avengers: Endgame‘s $2.797 billion and Avatar‘s (2009) $2.923 billion stand between the web-slinger and the top of the all-time rankings.
The achievement carries weight for both Sony and Marvel Studios, affirming Spider-Man's place among cinema's most reliable box-office draws nearly two decades into the character's modern film history. The film also features Zendaya as MJ and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, the vigilante known as the Punisher.
The milestone arrives amid an especially strong stretch for Holland professionally. His other major 2026 release, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, remains in theaters and has already amassed $1.458 billion worldwide — a figure that likewise benefits co-stars Zendaya and Bernthal, both featured in Nolan's ensemble cast.
Analysts, however, expect Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s hold on the top five to be tested before the year's end. The Russo Brothers are preparing to release Avengers: Doomsday (2026) on December 18, a date it shares with Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three (2026), setting the stage for one of the more competitive box-office weekends of the year. Whether Brand New Day can inch closer to the top three before then remains to be seen, but its current trajectory has already secured its place among the defining releases of 2026.
