Look, October is the one month where Disney+ and Hulu completely abandon their lanes.
Rest of the year the split is clean as anything. Disney+ takes family, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar. Hulu takes FX, adult drama, and the back catalog nobody expects to find sitting under a Mickey logo.
Then Halloween shows up, both platforms fire off their seasonal events, and you end up with Hereditary and Hotel Transylvania arriving days apart on services owned by the exact same company.

The Disney+ Headliners
Coven Academy lands on Disney+ and Hulu October 2, all episodes at once. That supernatural teen drama premieres October 1 on Freeform and already pulled a boycott call before a single episode aired.
The Banana Bowl streams live on Disney+ October 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ October 14, with more October 21 and 28.
American Horror Story: 13 kicks off October 1 on Hulu with three episodes, running weekly to an October 29 finale.
Abbott Elementary season 6 is back October 8.
The ABC Avalanche
Mid-month is when broadcast season really lands.
October 16 is the day. 9-1-1 season 10, 9-1-1: Nashville season 2, and Grey's Anatomy season 23 all return simultaneously. Three ABC dramas, one night.
Also coming back: Scrubs season 2 and Shark Tank season 18 with two-episode premieres October 1, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune season 7 on October 3, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? season 5 running weekly.
Dancing with the Stars season 35 keeps streaming live Tuesdays on Disney+ at 8 p.m. ET, landing on Hulu Wednesdays.
Now the Movie Dump
October 1 is far and away the heaviest day on Hulu.
Dropping that day: Barbarian, Edward Scissorhands, all three Ghostbusters, both Hotel Transylvania films, all three Night at the Museum movies, all five Die Hard films, both Grown Ups, both Surf's Up, and Soulm8te.
Then October 3 hits you with Hereditary and Midsommar. Same day.
That pairing is genuinely the most aggressive thing on this entire calendar. Nobody is calling that casual Halloween viewing, and it is sharing a platform with Hotel Transylvania, which is precisely the range Hulu was built for.

Disney+ handles the side that will not traumatize anybody.
