If you've tried to keep pace with construction filings at Walt Disney World lately, you already know it's basically a moving target. New permits show up constantly, spread across different parts of the resort, and unless you're checking multiple sources regularly, it's easy to miss one entirely. That's exactly why we pulled together everything filed recently into a single roundup, ten permits in total, covering everything from Magic Kingdom to Disney Springs.
Whether you're planning a trip soon or you're just the type of Disney fan who likes staying ahead of the news, here's a full breakdown of what's currently in motion across the resort.
Two Fresh Permits Target Pirates of the Caribbean
Magic Kingdom makes up three of the ten filings, and two of those are specifically tied to Pirates of the Caribbean. Both permits came from Disney's Sourcing and Procurement team, one covering the ride's facade and queue at 4873B Caribbean Way, and the other covering the show building itself at 4875 Caribbean Way.
Buena Vista Construction Company has been contracted to provide “labor, materials and/or electrical for construction,” according to the filing language. Disney hasn't publicly explained what the work actually involves, though based on how these permits read, general maintenance seems like the most reasonable guess. There's also no word yet on whether the attraction might need to close temporarily, or whether Disney intends to complete the work overnight while the park is already closed. We'll be watching closely for any updates as this develops further.
An Unusual Permit Suggests a New Structure Near Haunted Mansion
The third Magic Kingdom filing stands out from the rest. Walt Disney Imagineering submitted a general construction permit listing PCL Construction as the contractor, but the address tied to the project, 1610 Magic Kingdom Dr, doesn't currently exist anywhere in the address system.
The nearest real address belongs to Haunted Mansion at 1600 Magic Kingdom Dr, which puts this new project somewhere in that surrounding area. Given everything happening with Magic Kingdom's broader expansion right now, this filing fits neatly with something Disney has already hinted at previously. The fact that the address doesn't yet exist strongly points toward a brand new structure being built from scratch, rather than any renovation to something already standing.
Our best guess here is that this permit covers a new restroom facility connected to Piston Peak. During D23, a scale model of the Piston Peak land on display in the Horizons Imagineering pavilion showed a building with restroom signage in that exact location. Disney hasn't confirmed this publicly, but the timing and placement make it a fairly likely explanation.
Disney Springs Is Where Most of the Activity Is Happening
The largest share of recent permits actually belongs to Disney Springs, where seven separate filings have appeared across the shopping and dining district. Every one of them lists Buena Vista Construction Company as the contractor, categorized under general construction. Disney hasn't released any specific details beyond describing the scope as general maintenance.
The permit likely to have the most noticeable impact covers the pedestrian bridge crossing the lagoon between Marketplace and Town Center, the one near the LEGO Store that connects toward Rainforest Cafe. Disney hasn't announced a timeline for this work, nor confirmed whether the bridge will require closure at any point. Since that bridge serves as a key connector between different sections of Disney Springs, any potential closure would be worth monitoring if a visit is coming up.
The remaining six Disney Springs permits cover specific locations throughout the district, including Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, Paddlefish, The LEGO Store, The BOATHOUSE, UNIQLO, and Happy Hound Kiosk. As with the bridge, Disney hasn't shared refurbishment details or confirmed any temporary closures tied to these locations. One consistent detail across all seven Disney Springs permits is the expiration date, set for September 21, 2027, giving contractors a fairly generous window to complete the work.
Adjusting Expectations for an Upcoming Visit
None of these permits currently indicate confirmed closures, so there's no immediate need to rework travel plans based solely on this information. That said, general maintenance permits at Disney World frequently result in at least some visible changes, whether that's scaffolding, temporary walkway adjustments, or shifted operating patterns at specific locations.
If Pirates of the Caribbean ranks high on your must do list, it's worth checking Disney's official attraction status closer to your travel dates in case this maintenance work eventually leads to a temporary closure. The same logic applies to Disney Springs, particularly if dining at Raglan Road, Paddlefish, or The BOATHOUSE is part of your plans, or if shopping at UNIQLO or The LEGO Store matters to your visit. Nothing points to imminent closures based on what's currently known, though permits like these can sometimes precede announcements with fairly short notice.
The mystery structure near Haunted Mansion is probably the least likely to affect a visit in the immediate future, since it's located in an area that isn't currently part of the standard guest experience. Still, it offers a useful glimpse into how much groundwork happens well before Disney makes anything official, and it helps explain some of what guests will eventually encounter once Piston Peak officially opens.
For now, this is simply Disney laying groundwork across several corners of the resort simultaneously, and we'll continue tracking updates as additional permits surface or existing filings reveal more about their actual scope.
