Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie is scheduled to disappear from the Disney’s Hollywood Studios lineup again beginning October 28, 2026, according to the park’s operating calendar. The closure comes one month after the attraction reopened, removing an indoor Mickey and Minnie experience as Walt Disney World enters its holiday season.
What Disney has not confirmed is equally important: there is no announced reopening date, and the company has not said the October closure is connected to Disney Jollywood Nights. Still, the timing closely resembles how the theater was used during the 2025 holiday season, making the separately ticketed event the key development to watch. The official Vacation Fun attraction page describes the experience as a Mickey and Minnie animated short inside Mickey Shorts Theater.
Vacation Fun Faces Another Disney World Closure
Disney describes Vacation Fun as an original animated short mixing new Mickey and Minnie animation with clips from existing Mickey Mouse cartoons. Afterward, guests can use themed photo locations.
The theater has also become flexible operational space. Vacation Fun temporarily closed earlier in 2026 while Mickey Shorts Theater supported May the 4th merchandise operations, as Inside the Magic reported during the spring closure. It closed again August 9 ahead of a Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet distribution that ran from August 11 through September 24. Disney’s official Passholder information also identified Mickey Shorts Theater as the magnet pickup location.
Vacation Fun reopened September 28. Inside the Magic documented the attraction’s return after its extended absence. Now the show is set to become unavailable again October 28, giving guests only about a month with the attraction before another interruption.
The 2025 Jollywood Nights Pattern Matters
The obvious question is why. Disney has not publicly provided an explanation for the October 28 change, so describing the closure as a confirmed Jollywood Nights conversion would go beyond the available evidence.
There is a precedent. Vacation Fun closed October 20, 2025, and the Mickey Shorts Theater exit area was subsequently used as a merchandise location during Disney Jollywood Nights. The attraction returned December 27 that year, as Inside the Magic reported when the experience returned.
That history makes the 2026 timing notable. Disney Jollywood Nights begins November 7, just 10 days after Vacation Fun drops from the schedule. Inside the Magic has previously covered Disney’s decision to expand Jollywood Nights into January for the first time, with the final two parties scheduled for January 3 and January 5, 2027. Disney’s official event calendar confirms those dates.
If Mickey Shorts Theater follows last year’s seasonal-use pattern, Vacation Fun could remain unavailable into early January. That is an inference, not an announced reopening window. Disney’s calendar could change, and the company has not confirmed how the theater will be used during the closure.
Day Guests Lose an Experience as a Ticketed Event Expands
For families visiting Hollywood Studios with standard admission, the immediate consequence is simpler: Vacation Fun will not be part of the regular attraction lineup beginning October 28 unless Disney changes the posted schedule.
At the same time, Disney is preparing a five-hour, separately ticketed holiday event at the same park. The official Disney Jollywood Nights page lists 15 event dates from November 7 through January 5. Tickets cost $169 to $199 per person, plus tax, depending on the date, and party guests can enter Hollywood Studios beginning at 5:30 p.m. without purchasing an additional daytime ticket.
That creates a clear contrast. A daytime experience disappears while Disney expands a premium nighttime event across the holiday calendar. But the distinction between impact and intent matters: there is no evidence that Disney removed Vacation Fun specifically to push guests toward a Jollywood Nights ticket or to prioritize higher-spending visitors.

Jollywood Nights Has More Space on the 2026 Calendar
Disney Jollywood Nights itself is larger on the calendar this season. Disney confirmed that the event will run November 7, 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28; December 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 23; and January 3 and 5.
The party includes entertainment, characters, food and beverages, and select attractions. Disney lists Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Slinky Dog Dash, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror among the rides expected to operate, subject to change.
Vacation Fun is not among the attractions Disney highlights for Jollywood Nights. That does not prove Mickey Shorts Theater will become event space again.
The January extension also complicates comparisons with 2025. Last year, Vacation Fun could return before the calendar turned to January. This year, Disney has Jollywood Nights dates through January 5, meaning any repeat of the same operational strategy could produce a longer seasonal interruption. What Hollywood Studios Guests Should Watch
Guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios on or after October 28 should plan as though Vacation Fun will be unavailable unless Disney posts new operating times. The official Vacation Fun page and My Disney Experience remain the best places to check close to a trip because Walt Disney World schedules can change.
For now, the confirmed story is narrow but meaningful: Vacation Fun is leaving the daytime lineup again after only a month back in operation. The reason and reopening date remain unconfirmed.
The next signal will come from Disney’s calendar or an official announcement about Mickey Shorts Theater. Until then, an early-January 2027 return is plausible only by comparison with the 2025 pattern—not something families should build a vacation itinerary around.
