A bit of color has vanished from the Asia area at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where Walt Disney World Resort has quietly taken down the decorative lanterns that once hung outside a longtime venue for bird-themed shows.
Lanterns Disappear From Asia

On Monday, WDWNT reported that the hanging lanterns outside the Feathered Friends in Flight! show have been removed. Dozens of colorful lanterns, designed to match the look of Asia, previously hung from light strands outside the entrance to the Anandapur Theater.
What remains are colorful lightbulbs dangling at different heights from wires strung high above the heads of passing guests. Disney hasn't said whether the lanterns were taken down for maintenance or replacement, or whether the bare bulbs are meant to stay as they are.

True to form for minor changes at the Central Florida Disney parks, the company hasn't commented publicly on the removal.
The Show Behind the Venue
Feathered Friends in Flight! has been part of the theme park since 2020, bringing some of Disney's Animal Kingdom's live residents and their keepers together to teach guests about different bird species. Over the course of the 35-minute show, audiences watch a variety of avian species display remarkable natural behaviors.

The Anandapur Theater has a long history with bird-focused entertainment. Before Feathered Friends in Flight! arrived, it hosted “UP! A Great Bird Adventure,” inspired by Up (2009), and before that, Flights of Wonder, which debuted when the fourth Central Florida Disney park opened in 1998.
Guests can check the My Disney Experience app or the posted entertainment schedule inside the park for the latest showtimes for Feathered Friends in Flight! and other live offerings.
