One longtime holiday tradition at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is gone this year, though Santa Claus isn't leaving the park entirely. Walt Disney World Resort has moved the Christmastime meet-and-greet to a brand-new spot as part of its 2026 holiday plans.
The Old Santa Spot at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park Is Gone

For last year's holidays, Santa greeted guests at Restaurantosaurus, the Quick-Service dining location in DinoLand U.S.A. That venue shut down for good in February, along with the rest of the land, to clear room for Pueblo Esperanza. The Tropical Americas-themed area will include three attractions: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos. It's expected to open in 2027.
A New Home For Saint Nick: Santa's Holiday Grove
Walt Disney World Resort revealed the replacement on Tuesday as part of its broader holiday announcement. Santa's Holiday Grove will be a limited-time experience across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue … and Beyond! at Theater in the Wild.

According to Disney, guests will “find a magical trail with intermittent snow flurries and Santa himself, ready to hear your holiday wish list.” Specialty food and beverage offerings, along with a festive soundtrack, will accompany Saint Nick's visit.
An opening date for Santa's Holiday Grove hasn't been shared.

The announcement also covered the rest of Walt Disney World Resort's holiday offerings beyond the after-hours Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights events, including new ride overlays and returning limited-time entertainment. The season runs from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027.
As in past years, Santa will likely wrap up his meet-and-greet schedule by Christmas Day, with a character in festive attire, such as Santa Goofy, often filling in afterward. However, Disney hasn't said whether a stand-in will take over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park after Christmas Eve.
