Disney Cruise Line Revealed: Disney Believe Sail Date, Bookings, and the Encanto Premiere

Disney Cruise Line revealed the Disney Believe yesterday, and a whole lot of hardcore DCL fans responded with one word.

“Meh.”

Two different people posted exactly that, independently, on the same thread.

Some context.

The Believe is the fourth Wish-class ship. It sails December 18, 2027, out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, running four and five-night trips to the Caribbean and The Bahamas, stopping at Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Bookings are basically immediate. Pearl Castaway Club, October 12, Platinum; October 13, Gold; October 14, Silver; October 15, everybody else; October 19.

So if you want to, that is next week.

First, the Thing Nobody Is Talking About Enough

The Disney Believe is premiering the world's first stage adaptation of Encanto.

Not a cruise ship version. The actual first one, anywhere.

Disney has been turning animated movies into stage shows for thirty years, and those always open on Broadway or in the West End. The Lion King. Aladdin. Frozen. All of them.

This one opens on a boat.

It takes over the Walt Disney Theatre, follows Mirabel as she tries to save her family and their house, and weaves Colombian culture into the costumes, sets, and dance. “We Don't Talk About Bruno” is in it. So is “Surface Pressure.”

That is a genuinely big deal, and the “meh” crowd is sleeping on it. The fleet used to be where Broadway shows got chopped down to 45 minutes. Now it is where one launches.

Tangled: The Musical is coming too, back from the Disney Magic with new sets and effects. Plus Disney Seas the Adventure.

Okay, Now the Complaint

“Wash, rinse, repeat,” wrote user mickeygurutravel. “Another Frozen restaurant? Another Haunted Mansion lounge?”

“Boring ship with rehashed IP and boring rehashed itineraries,” wrote user kathistetser.

“It's more of the same from the Wish-class ships,” wrote user thenotesfromneverland. “Ready for something really different.”

And the single best shot anybody took all day:

“They had the Snuggly Duckling RIGHT THERE,” wrote user pupusa.princess. “But sure, Haunted Mansion round 3.”

Sit with that one. The ship is literally staging Tangled: The Musical. The Snuggly Duckling is the pub from Tangled. Disney built an astronomer's pub instead.

Another person expected the same thing with no prompting. “I was also certain that the Snuggly Duckling would be the pub,” wrote user kingdomadventurestravel.

When two strangers land on the same missed layup, it was a missed layup.

In Fairness, There Is a Lot of New Stuff

Let us actually count.

Oaken's Table: A Frozen Family Feast. Scandinavian Sommerhus courtyard, untold Frozen chapter, Oaken's cousins performing reworked songs, Anna and Kristoff dropping by.

Wishing Well. Snow White adult lounge in three parts: gothic castle bar with stained glass, courtyard with white blossoms and red apples, hand-carved performance space doing the dwarfs' cottage.

Sea Notes. Ariel's grotto as a piano lounge, pearlescent piano and all.

Skygazers. The astronomer's pub. Celestial maps, craft beer, live sports.

Gazelle. Zootopia hub. Families by day, adults and silent discos at night. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde get a whole new show, first time for DCL.

Big Hero Sips and Café Kakamora. Coffee from San Fransokyo and Motunui.

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets. Giant Joy, Sadness, Anxiety, and Envy sculptures, the Sense of Self structure, close to 20 gelato and ice cream flavors.

Pluto's Pita Platters. Believe-only Mediterranean stall up top.

Believe Tower Suite. Two thousand square feet, two stories, built inside the forward funnel, sleeps eight, four and a half bathrooms, rooms themed to Magic Kingdom lands. A two-story suite inside the funnel is a flex.

Plus seven pools, a Toy Story splash zone, AquaMouse back at 760 feet with two new shorts, and an Oceaneer Club entrance done up as Monsters, Inc. with the “Caution: 2319” sign and a Mike Wazowski figure.

So the real gripe is not that nothing is new. It is the new stuff that pulls from the same IP shelf, and it is the fourth identical hull.

And Here Is the Explanation

One guy figured out the whole thing in one sentence.

“Believe is the more traditional Disney cruise ship when the Treasure and Destiny are the Disney adult ones,” wrote Samuel blank on X.

Look at it that way and everything clicks. Seven pools. Toy Story water area. Zootopia family show. Mike Wazowski guarding the kids club door.

This ship was built for families with little kids.

Which means a solid chunk of yesterday's disappointment is adult DCL fans reviewing a ship that was never pointed at them in the first place.
