Universal Epic Universe is dealing with another unexpected incident after a large ceiling fan fell inside the waiting area of one of its most popular roller coasters.
Guests visiting the Orlando theme park on Sunday, October 18, 2026, reportedly witnessed the equipment crash to the ground inside the Stardust Racers queue.

The situation quickly gained attention online after footage of the fallen fan appeared on TikTok.
Although initial reports suggested the equipment narrowly missed nearby visitors, another eyewitness claimed someone was actually struck.
The incident reportedly prompted an evacuation and left the roller coaster closed for the remainder of the day.
Guests Witness Unexpected Accident Inside Queue
Stardust Racers is one of the biggest attractions at Epic Universe, drawing guests with its racing roller coaster experience and intense launches.
However, Sunday's disruption had nothing to do with the coaster's usual thrills.
According to reports from WDW News Today (WDWNT), a ceiling fan detached from its overhead position and landed inside the attraction's queue.
TikTok user Shane Mercier, also known as Station Tested, shared footage showing the equipment on the ground.
@stationtested 🚨 “A CEILING FAN JUST CAME CRASHING DOWN AT UNIVERSAL EPIC UNIVERSE!” Today, October 18th, 2026, we were standing in line for Stardust Racers when, out of nowhere, a ceiling fan broke loose and came crashing down, narrowly missing guests standing underneath it! And the craziest part? My Meta glasses captured the entire thing! Stardust Racers was also experiencing downtime today, but we don’t know whether this incident was connected. Watch this footage and tell me, how close was THAT?!”#UniversalEpicUniverse #EpicUniverse #UniversalOrlando #StardustRacers #UniversalStudios ♬ original sound – Station Tested | Shane Mercier
The fan appeared wedged between a wall and a nearby railing, with one blade extending underneath part of the structure.
The video also showed how close the equipment landed to an area where guests were standing.
Mercier estimated the fan weighed between 20 and 30 pounds.
While that estimate has not been verified, the equipment was substantial enough that its fall reportedly damaged a railing on a work ramp above the queue.
The video raised immediate questions about how the fan became detached and whether anyone had been standing directly beneath it.
Eyewitness Makes Concerning Injury Claim
The most troubling detail emerged from a comment posted beneath the TikTok video.
Mercier initially indicated that the fan missed nearby guests.
However, another commenter, using the account @ballistickid16, claimed to have been standing approximately four feet away when the equipment fell.
That person said the fan struck another guest.
The commenter also alleged that paramedics treated the individual before guests were directed out of the queue.

There has been no independent confirmation of those injury claims.
No verified information has established whether the person required additional medical care or suffered any lasting injuries.
The available footage documents the aftermath rather than the fall itself, meaning it cannot settle the conflicting accounts.
Still, the possibility of someone being struck by overhead equipment has made the situation particularly concerning.
Stardust Racers Remains Closed Following Incident
The accident reportedly occurred within a few hours of Stardust Racers opening on Sunday.
Following the incident, Universal allegedly cleared the queue and suspended operations.
Guests commenting online said the roller coaster never reopened that day.
Information from Thrill Data supports the possibility of an extended shutdown, with no additional wait times appearing after approximately 12:28 p.m.
Meanwhile, some visitors claimed other ceiling fans around Epic Universe were switched off as a safety precaution.

Universal has not been independently confirmed to have taken that park-wide measure.
As for what caused the equipment to fall, there is still no definitive explanation.
Windy weather was reported in Orlando on Sunday, but investigators have not established whether those conditions played any role.
The situation continued to affect the conversation surrounding Stardust Racers on Monday morning.
As Epic Universe began welcoming eligible hotel guests for Early Park Admission on October 19, the Universal Orlando app displayed a delayed status for the coaster.
Stardust Racers was not scheduled to participate in early admission, but its regular opening was expected at 10 a.m.
Whether the delay was connected to the ceiling fan incident remains unknown.
Questions Grow Around Epic Universe Attraction
Sunday's accident comes as Stardust Racers continues to receive attention over previously reported safety concerns.
Several lawsuits have alleged injuries involving guests who experienced the roller coaster.
The attraction also faced scrutiny following the September 2025 death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala.
His death was attributed to multiple blunt impact injuries, although the final report determined that no criminal acts occurred.

Those previous incidents are separate from Sunday's falling fan, which involved equipment inside the waiting area rather than the coaster's ride system.
For now, the biggest unanswered questions concern what caused the fan to detach and whether the reported injury actually occurred.
There is also no confirmed explanation of what inspections or repairs Universal conducted afterward.
For visitors planning an Epic Universe trip, the incident shows how quickly an ordinary day can change when unexpected problems arise.
Stardust Racers remains one of the park's major attractions, but Sunday's accident has added another troubling chapter to its history.
Until Universal provides additional details, the full circumstances surrounding the falling equipment remain unclear.
