Christmas is arriving early at Magic Kingdom — but access to one holiday tradition is getting harder.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is among Walt Disney World Resort’s biggest seasonal attractions. The procession brings dancing gingerbread men, marching toy soldiers, decorated floats, and Disney characters in festive costumes through Magic Kingdom, with Santa Claus following at the end.
Most guests see the parade during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which runs on select evenings from November 8 through December 22, 2026. The after-hours celebration requires a separate ticket, with festivities running from 7 p.m. until midnight.

This year, Disney has also scheduled two unusual daytime presentations. The parade will travel through Magic Kingdom at 2 p.m. on November 10 and November 11, giving regular park guests an early opportunity to watch without buying Christmas Party admission.
Those performances are expected to be filmed for ABC’s holiday programming. However, the announcement has already led to a change in availability for one group of visitors.
Disney's Christmas Parade Dates Reach Capacity for Passholders
As of October 23, Annual Passholder reservations for Magic Kingdom are fully booked on both dates. Passholders who have not already secured a reservation can no longer select the park as their starting destination for either daytime parade.
November 11 was the first date to fill, becoming unavailable by October 22. The following day, November 10 disappeared from the Passholder reservation calendar as well, closing off the last direct morning-entry option for those without bookings.
The restriction does not mean Magic Kingdom is closed to everyone on those dates. Guests holding regular date-based theme park tickets do not need park reservations, while Annual Passholders who already booked Magic Kingdom can retain their plans.
The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, the park’s usual daytime procession, was removed from the schedule for the two performances. The November dates are linked to the filming of Disney’s televised Christmas celebrations.

A similar production took place at Magic Kingdom on November 8 and 9 in 2025. ABC aired The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular on December 1 that year, followed by Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade on December 25.
For 2026, ABC has not yet confirmed broadcast times for its holiday specials. The daytime appearances remain separate from the regular nighttime Christmas Party performances.
What Disney Annual Passholders Can Still Do
There are still ways for Passholders without Magic Kingdom reservations to try to attend, although neither guarantees a good spot when the music starts.
Under Disney’s current Park Hopper rules, a Passholder can reserve another available theme park, enter that park first, and then travel to Magic Kingdom. Hopping is permitted at any time after initial entry, subject to capacity restrictions.
The other option is to arrive after 2 p.m. Passholders can normally enter Walt Disney World’s theme parks after that time without advance reservations, except at Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays. November 10 and 11 both fall on weekdays.
That exception is unlikely to help anyone hoping to watch the procession from the beginning. With both performances scheduled for exactly 2 p.m., guests entering after that time could miss some or all of the parade.
The situation highlights a reservation policy that has continued to affect Annual Passholders long after Disney relaxed requirements for other visitors. The system began when Walt Disney World reopened in July 2020 following its pandemic shutdown.

Disney introduced reservation-free entry after 2 p.m. for most Passholders in April 2023. In January 2024, it removed park reservations for date-based tickets and reinstated all-day Park Hopper access after entering the first park.
That month also brought “good-to-go” days, on which Passholders can visit without advance bookings. Those dates are released periodically, and blockout dates and park capacity rules still apply.
The limitations come shortly after Disney increased Annual Pass prices in October 2026. The top-tier Incredi-Pass now costs $1,749 before tax, up from $1,629, while the reservation requirements remain in place.
Guests who miss the filming dates can still see Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Disney lists 2026 party tickets from $189 to $229 before tax, with admission beginning at 4 p.m.
The parade also traditionally appears during regular park hours in the final days of December, after the separately ticketed parties conclude. Passholders hoping for the November performances can continue checking Disney’s reservation calendar in case availability changes.
