6. Night Gallery
The tour begins in the gallery or “Stretching Room” as guests are ushered into first chamber of the mansion. Once all the guests are in, the door slides shut, sealing the guests in the first scene. Here, the elegant portraits stretch to reveal silly – then – scary features as the floor lowers guests down to the entrance of the ride. The portraits in the gallery serve as a taste of the gasps and giggles to come. My personal favorite is the distinguished gentleman standing on the keg of dynamite in his underwear. The best viewing spot for this ghoulish gallery is of course as close to the center of the room as you can get. However, for those wanting to try and beat the mass exodus from the chamber, stay close to the portrait of the woman with the parasol. It will open to the Doom Buggy line, the black carriage to carry you through the halls of The Haunted Mansion.
