One of Walt Disney World's most famous resort hotels has finally received a long-awaited update after weeks of construction-related disruptions.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been surrounded by roadway improvements as Disney continues upgrading transportation infrastructure near Magic Kingdom.
While the project is intended to improve access to the area, it has also created an inconvenient situation for guests trying to reach the luxury hotel.
For 39 days, visitors arriving by vehicle had to follow a temporary route that took them away from the resort's traditional entrance.
Now, that detour is finally over.

Disney World has reopened a key roadway, restoring a more direct connection to the Grand Floridian and changing how guests approach the property.
Disney World Restores Direct Grand Floridian Access
On October 19, 2026, Disney World reopened the southern roundabout entrance along Floridian Way, allowing drivers to reach Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa without following the temporary detour.
The reopening marks 39 days since Disney introduced the alternate entrance configuration on September 10.
According to WDWNT, the restored road now connects directly to the resort's main entrance, allowing vehicles to pass the familiar brick Grand Floridian entrance sign.
For guests who have visited the hotel during the past several weeks, the difference should be noticeable.
Previously, motorists had to follow a route that passed nearby overflow parking areas and Cast Member parking lots.
Disney used electronic directional signs to guide drivers through the temporary configuration.
Although the arrangement kept the resort accessible during construction, it also added an unnecessary complication for visitors unfamiliar with the area.
With the southern roundabout operational again, guests can follow a much more straightforward approach to the hotel.
Why Disney Closed the Entrance
The temporary entrance changes were part of a larger construction project involving Floridian Way.
In August, Disney introduced a redesigned roadway featuring two roundabouts.
However, crews still needed to complete improvements around the Grand Floridian's main entrance.
That work included installing new pavement and curbing, requiring Disney to temporarily redirect traffic away from the usual route.
Construction remained visible as recently as October 15, when the entrance road was still undergoing improvements.
By October 19, Disney had reopened the connection.

A new blue sign directs motorists toward the Grand Floridian, making the correct turn easier to identify.
Some orange and white construction cones remain in the surrounding area, so guests may still notice signs of ongoing work.
However, the reopening means the previous detour is no longer necessary for reaching the resort's main entrance.
The closure never involved the hotel itself, which remained open throughout the roadway construction.
Grand Floridian Construction Isn't Completely Finished
Although Disney has restored direct access to the Grand Floridian, additional transportation improvements remain planned for the surrounding area.
The project dates back to September 2025, when Disney filed a permit detailing plans to reconfigure the resort's entrance.
Those plans included connecting the main entrance to new roundabouts along the nearby road network.
A third roundabout is also planned farther south near the Magic Kingdom parking lot.
Another proposed change involves Disney's Wedding Pavilion, which is expected to receive a relocated entrance south of its current location.
These projects are part of Disney's broader efforts to reorganize vehicle access around one of the busiest areas of Walt Disney World.
The company hasn't confirmed when every remaining roadway improvement will be completed.
A Welcome Change for Grand Floridian Visitors
The Grand Floridian isn't just another Disney World hotel.
Since opening in 1988, the Victorian-inspired resort has become one of the property's signature destinations.
Its location near Magic Kingdom makes it popular with vacationing families, while its restaurants and event spaces attract visitors staying elsewhere.
Guests frequently travel to the property for dining reservations, celebrations, and special occasions.
Because of that, even a temporary roadway closure can affect a wide range of Disney World visitors.
Restoring the direct entrance should help simplify arrivals for hotel guests, restaurant visitors, and others traveling to the property.
While construction continues to reshape parts of Walt Disney World, the October 19 reopening represents another completed step in the Grand Floridian's ongoing roadway improvements.
After 39 days of following a temporary entrance route, drivers can finally return to a more familiar way of reaching one of Disney World's most iconic hotels.
