A rare Sumatran tiger cub was born at the park, and this adorable new arrival is stirring up some major excitement. While we wait for more details on when we can meet this cub in person, we’re already buzzing about what this means for the park’s future.

The tiger cub—rumored to be named Bakso—was born to mom Sohni, and the two are currently bonding backstage. Tiger births at Disney are a big deal, especially since there are fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers left in the wild. Animal Kingdom’s expert team has been hard at work ensuring Sohni’s pregnancy went smoothly, using blood tests and ultrasounds to monitor every step. And guess what? Sohni even learned to voluntarily participate in her care—talk about a smart tiger mama!

But wait, there’s more! The birth of this rare tiger cub isn’t the only big thing happening at Animal Kingdom. In a huge update, Disney recently announced plans for a brand-new land featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones! Yes, you read that right—DinoLand U.S.A. is getting a major makeover.

Fans of Encanto can expect to step into the magical world of the Madrigal family, with immersive experiences that’ll transport you straight into the heart of Colombia. And for those craving a bit more adventure, the Indiana Jones section is set to thrill with rides inspired by the legendary archaeologist’s daring quests.
