The Marvel Cinematic Universe is making an unexpected appearance in the EPCOT World Showcase, this time not as a ride, but as a clever bit of themed decor tucked inside a United Kingdom Pavilion shop.
Marvel's Growing Presence at EPCOT
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind marked Marvel's first major foothold at EPCOT when it opened in the rebranded World Discovery neighborhood. Some Disney Parks fans initially questioned whether a Marvel Cinematic Universe attraction fit within the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow's original vision, but the indoor coaster has since become one of Walt Disney World Resort's most popular rides.
Now, Marvel is showing up in a far subtler way at EPCOT, thanks to a new Easter egg spotted inside The Crown & Crest, the heraldry-themed gift shop located in the United Kingdom World Showcase Pavilion.
New Avengers-Inspired Crests on Display
According to WDWNT, cast members recently swapped in several framed crests inspired by The Avengers (2012) throughout the shop. Photos shared by the outlet show artwork themed around Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America), with additional pieces featuring colors and country names associated with Thor, Loki, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.
The Crown & Crest typically allows guests to research their family surnames and order custom artwork featuring personalized coats of arms and heraldic designs. Sample pieces scattered throughout the shop often reference Disney characters or pop culture figures, ranging from Brave (2012) to Taylor Swift — making the new Avengers additions a natural fit for the shop's playful sample display.
A separate sample plaque themed to Bruce Banner (Hulk) can also be found elsewhere within the store.
A Limited-Time Detail
Walt Disney World Resort doesn't formally promote these joke sample pieces within The Crown & Crest, and there's no indication of how long the Avengers-themed crests will remain on display. Guests hoping to spot them should plan to look soon, before the artwork potentially rotates out again.
