Crews have officially commenced the demolition of the beloved Muppets Courtyard. Work began with the dismantling of the former Stage 1 Company Store, a retail space that once buzzed with Muppet-themed merchandise.

The closure of Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios stirred a wave of mixed emotions within the Disney community. The area, home to beloved attractions and characters, had been a staple since its inception, drawing guests eager to experience the magic of the Muppets.

The bittersweet goodbye came on June 7, 2025, as guests bid farewell to attractions like Muppet*Vision 3D and eateries such as PizzeRizzo. Many fans came together to celebrate the legacy of the Muppets, reliving cherished memories before the shutters came down for good.

With the closure of Muppets Courtyard, Disney has set its sights on transforming the area into Monstropolis, inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. This new land is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Hollywood Studios experience while promising excitement and innovation. Disney announced ambitious plans for Monstropolis, showcasing concept art that ignited imaginations.

The park's new Monstropolis land is expected to be completed by 2027, though exact details remain a mystery for now. We do know that the new land will feature several new attractions, specifically a new roller coaster. This thrill ride will be a suspended roller coaster, a first for Walt Disney World.

This is hardly the only large-scale project currently happening in Walt Disney World. Earlier this summer, work began on transforming Magic Kingdom's Rivers of America into Piston Peak, a new area inspired by Pixar's Cars franchise.

Much like Monstropolis, Piston Peak takes an existing area of Walt Disney World and transforms it into something new. Alongside a new thrill ride, Piston Peak will feature several other attractions for guests to enjoy and explore.

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
