Disneyland has been closed for over 6 months now due to COVID-19. While Walt Disney World and other Disney Parks reopened this summer, Disneyland has been left waiting for California approval.
As shared by the OCRegister: California plans to issue reopening guidelines this week that will allow Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and other theme parks in the state to resume operations after more than six months of coronavirus closures, according to state officials.
Reopening guidelines for California theme parks will be issued this week, according to Jesse Melgar, press secretary for Gov. Gavin Newsom.
“Theme park guidance is expected to come from CDPH this week,” Butler said via email. “Theme parks will be incorporated into the Blueprint for a Safer Economy similar to other sectors.”

Disney officials laid part of the blame for the layoffs at the feet of Newsom and his administration’s failure to issue theme park reopening guidelines. The impact of the pandemic has been “exacerbated in California by the State’s unwillingness to lift restrictions that would allow Disneyland to reopen,” Disney parks chairman Josh D’Amaro said in a statement.
