Chef Mickey’s & Biergarten To Likely Be “Family Style” Upon Reopen

As we previously posted, The Orlando Hotel and Restaurant Works Movement with Local 737 UniteHere shared a list of locations Cast Members are being recalled to. Parks and resort eateries were included on the list. Two specific stand outs included Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and the Biergarten Restaurant in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion. Both popular buffet-style restaurants were listed as “Family Style”.

When the reopening of select Walt Disney World Resorts begins on June 22, we’ve noted there are no buffet options reopening. Those that have offered a buffet in the past (such as the Wave), are featuring table service only. It looks like Chef Mickey’s and Biergarten’s buffets will become “Family Style” as well for the initial reopening.

We are excited about the possibility of another character dining experience opening however! Topolino’s Terrace is scheduled to reopen on June 22 for Disney Resort Guests with reservations. Disney has announced a “modified character experience” for this restaurant. We are hoping characters will still be able to visit at Chef Mickey’s for the “Family Style” service, even if it is modified like Topolino’s.

Biergarten has always been a family favorite of ours in EPCOT. No characters come around to the tables, but the buffet has always been a highlight. We’re sure the “Family Style” will still have many of the German favorites! We do hope however the on-stage German band will continue to entertain upon the reopening of the restaurant.
