CLOSED - 5 Reasons Why Disney Closes A Park

Epcot Storm

5. Weather

The most common type of park closure is due to weather. Rain is not usually a problem, but nearby lightning strikes will often shut down outdoor attractions. In the four main parks, this is just a minor inconvenience really. There’s always an indoor alternative until the storm passes. But at the waterparks, complete shutdown for lightning happens frequently. If it’s a small storm system, you’ve just gotta find some shelter and wait it out. For larger storms, rain checks will sometimes be offered, but there’s no guarantee. In the event of an imminent hurricane, Disney will close all parks. In Disney history, a complete hurricane shutdown has happened only three times. And if there is a National Weather Advisory for an approaching hurricane, Disney will gladly help you reschedule your vacation. As you can see, it takes a lot to shut down Disney. Here’s hoping for days and days of uninterrupted magic…especially during your vacation!
