Something is happening in the Bayou Country section of Disneyland Park, and Southern California Disney Park guests arriving for a meal at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree are the first to notice.
Construction Walls Appear Along the Waterfront
WDWNT reported on May 20 that Disneyland Resort has installed wooden construction walls along the walkway between Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree and the river in Bayou Country — the area formerly known as Critter Country before Splash Mountain became Tiana's Bayou Adventure in 2024. The barriers run parallel to the restaurant's upstairs patio, blocking a stretch of the path guests typically use to reach the Quick-Service dining location.
Signs mounted on the walls read “Our Grill Is Open. Come On In!” and lanterns with bear motifs hang above, keeping the area lit and welcoming after dark. Green scrim connects to the far end of the construction walls, extending into existing flowerbeds in Bayou Country.
For guests seated on the upstairs patio, the work is impossible to miss. Wooden fences that previously enclosed the flowerbed areas have been largely dismantled, and a digger is parked on a cleared patch of dirt where plantings once grew.
What It Means for Guests
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree is still open and serving its full menu throughout the construction period, with both in-person and Mobile Ordering available. Tiana's Bayou Adventure and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are also operating normally in Bayou Country; the construction footprint hasn't touched the area's attractions.
What Disneyland Resort hasn't provided is any explanation for what's actually being done. The resort has made no public announcement about the nature of the project — whether it's routine maintenance or the beginning of something more visually significant — and no end date has been given for the work. Guests visiting the area should expect construction walls and equipment to remain fixtures in Bayou Country for the foreseeable future.
